What is hell?

Actually then you are wrong! You see I make it a POLICY (and have for about the last 20 years) that I would NEVER want to deconvert a Believer. NEVER.

I love to talk about atheism and I will agree that at times I express some degree of annoyance with religion, but I am ALSO 100% clear in that I find many things of VALUE in the Bible. A lot of evil, but a lot of good, too.

Nah, I just like needling fake agnostics who take the position so they don't have to worry about offending God accidentally. LOL ;)

Nah, you just find us to be heretics who challenge the One True Faith® of Atheism. You zealots hate use far more than you hate Christians.

Add to that spiritual beliefs; the belief that some things can't be explained by logic or science.
I think one would be foolish to believe in a god or transcendent being without any evidence whatsoever.

Jesus' brother James thought his brother was mentally disturbed, until the evidence convinced him otherwise. Many of Jesus' disciples were famously skeptical of the resurrection until evidence changed their minds.

The dieists thought the rational mathematical order of the universe pointed towards law-giver.

Newton and Galileo certainly thought the laws of nature were evidence of a providential law giver.

As for an anthropomorphic god clothed in white robes and sitting on a golden throne, that is just a foolish superstition, a mythological construct.

Yes it is a sin. Which is why I find it so confusing why you constantly misrepresent other posters positions.

How many times have you started a post with "I'm glad we agree that..." and then follow it up with something you KNOW the other poster doesnt' agree with you on. Yet you do it all the time.

I suggest you read Matthew 7:3-5

It would do you some good to actually READ ABOUT THE MORALITY you supposedly think is important to our society.

Even other people on this thread have concluded that you are an angry, militant atheist who tries to camouflage your emotionally-charged resentment of Christianity as a benign and dispassionate intellectual quest for the truth.

So my supposed 'misrepresentations' of you are things other people recognize as well.

Maybe they were all wacky? Whatever it was, many of the apostles died for their beliefs. That's strong evidence for me that they witnessed something worth dying for.

I'm in line with the deist philosophy of a Watchmaker God. The orderliness of the Universe indicates some form of rationality.

Agreed on the anthropomorphic god, but understand how such a concept would be more palatable to primitive, illiterate cultures.

Good point. Evidence doesn't have to be correct. Evidence can have multiple interpretations.Maybe the disciples and Jesus' brother James were hallucinating. But they based their belief on what they thought was good evidence, they did not just blindly believe without evidence whatsoever.

Makes sense to me.

Perry the putz is pissed at me for my little jokes.

Agreed he's emotionally-charged. Add to this that he's highly irrational too. He claimed to be married, but I doubt that's true. Maybe at one time in his past. IIRC, he's in his 40s.

I'm not angry with you. You have brought me no end of laughter the past two days with your imaginary NDE that forms such an important part of your "identity".

Add to this that he's highly irrational too.

I'm not the one here with an imaginary NDE that I tell everyone about. ;)

YOU are the guy who claims he flew up to heaven.

Who do you think believes anything you post, Perry?

No shit, Perry.

Wow, you are really angry today. So MANY gifs and pictures. Grrrrrrrrr.

Take a nap. Maybe have a quick NDE (without being near death, of course, be safe!) and visit the afterlife. Take a dip in the river Styx, then come back and relax.

Try talking about the topic of the OP for a change!
