Aristotle said “the object of a state is the good life” (Politics;1280b39).

If the purpose of government is not to make people good, then what is it?
 
I'm fairly certain that those all follow the US Constitution, at least in our country.

in my reading it clarifies what the federal govt is intended to do AND what it is NOT to do (such as things intended to be addressed by the several states).

in the case of rights, yes those are protected at all levels.

yes, of course. you recall right here in America they had a constitutional convention to do just that.

by what standards ? the ones agreed upon by the folks mentioned above and ratified by the states.

Seems vague. That would allow fascism as legitimate or any totalitarianism.
