What is the purpose of government?

Anything involving an Amendment would be impossible in today's toxic environment. People smarter than me would have to figure it out and/or monitor it. Reagan was a model of a President who admitted he didn't know everything but was smart enough to surround himself with people who did. GHW Bush did the same. After that it went downhill and hitting bottom under the last administration. I'm not really sure if the Biden administration or the Democrats have what it takes to lift us off the bottom. The Republicans are zero help.

I don't understand it very well, but I don't think it is desirable or would have public support. What economic groups would be represented in different districts?

The focus would be to develop the citizens. Right now the focus is to develop property and boot out the poor. Focusing on developing the poor would produce tax revenue, not tax liabilities.

Independent neutral commission would use economic development criteria to determine the lines. I'd like rules such as "no thin lines, only a single blob".
 
Corrupt and ineffectual. When We, the People, settle for politicians who are corrupt or support corrupt policies, then we only have ourselves to blame.

Settling for the lesser of two evils is a vote for evil. That's not working, IMO.

I like the way the US Constitution frames it:

"to establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."

In 2005, the United States Supreme Court decided the landmark case of Kelo v. New London. In a 5-4 decision delivered by Justice Stevens, the Supreme Court ruled that the government's seizure and transfer of private property to a private redevelopment company did not violate the 5th Amendment's taking clause.


This is definitely fascism.
