What this crisis reveals about US?

What a “spectacular failure of leadership”, In January, US president Donald Trump said Covid-19 was “totally under control”. The next month, as the virus swept the world, he predicted it would soon disappear – “like a miracle” – and, just last week, he said he hoped the US would be “open by Easter”. This week, as the country’s death toll passed 4,000 – more than China’s official toll, or the number who perished on 9/11 – Trump finally admitted that won’t be possible. Instead, he said that his administration would have done a “very good job” if it kept the death toll below 200,000. As of Wednesday, the US had 190,000 cases (more than China and Italy combined).

Funny.....I live in Wisconsin, Our 1 TERM Dem Governor along with Joe Biden are pushing for the primary to go on as scheduled instead of delaying for a few weeks out of safety concerns. Polling stations and Corona???....Hmmmm. Seems Dems only care about public safety when it benefits them or when playing politics.. Then again,...whats new.

Actually the governor of Wisconsin wants to delay the primary, so why are you lying about it

Do you think no provisions would be taken for safety? Do you really? There is talk about all absentee. Is that because they do not care? Funny how rightys can't tell the truth.

Despair not. #COVID-45's chief JPP apologist, Stretch, will be along shortly to provide you with an entire list of how glowingly wonderful is our glorious Reichsfuehrer, and all the beautiful things he has done to keep us safe.

In the meantime, let us ponder your truthful post and pass around the Cliff Notes timeline.

Here is a handy chart for you to follow along as we play the "It's no worse than the flu/car accidents/suicide rate/whatever other stupid comparison the deniers like to make" game. Notice that the author has been very conservative with his calculations. We are already three days ahead of the projections, thanks to Trump and his criminal dithering.

how is a hint of optimism a failure of leadership?

Esp. that one. He claimed to be a native from Lac Du Flambeau in Wisconsin. Since then he's gone on several racist rants about natives. I bet he's also (depending on his audience) a doctor, a pilot, a best-selling author, a movie star, a top rock guitarist, an undersea explorer, a millionaire, and King of Narnia.

Yes, agreed. DT handled it very badly. The economy did not have to crash. Nobody needed to get fired. It should have been handled like Europe. They didn't get the mass unemployment there because the governments just pay the businesses to keep their workers on the payroll even if they are not working to observe social distancing. We screwed up by letting all these people get fired and businesses go belly up and then coming in with rescue stimulus money. It would have been better spent up front to just pay the businesses to keep workers. That way the workers retain their healthcare insurance, which many of them just lost, along with their job. Seems bass-ackwards. There is no way to easily put that all back together again in a few months. The economy is not coming roaring back, and that is the cost of bad leadership.

business received tax breaks. pay slave wages and have been bailed out several times they should have enough money to keep their employees and pay each employee sick leave.

THEY DON'T DESERVE ANY MORE TAX PAYER MONEY. They already have all the power.....MORE MONEY IS MORE POWER!

THE POWER SHOULD BE WITH THE PEOPLE!.......it's our money. The racist right wants business to get all our money.

STOP BELIEVING IN RACIST RIGHT WING REPUBLICAN POLITICS.

Give my tax money to the homeless or undocumented worker, or single mother who can barely put food on the table.

Walmart doesn't need my tax dollars.
