what was the best time in American history?

why does the right claim they will take us back to some perfect time in history?

Why do they never specify which time?

ROFLMAO...

You are the one that asked everyone to list specific times we thought this country was the best. YOU were the only one not to specify a time.

Desh, you either can't or won't point out what in your link supports the point you were attempting to make?

I always had the impression that, curriculum-wise, schools were better in the 50's. I've always been impressed with the grammatical skills of older people for one thing. They often write at college-level, and frankly, above. (and I am speaking of people who did not go beyond high school)

Of course, that's got to be dependent upon where you went to school. This is NY. So I don't know about the rest of the country. However, saying that, is not the same as saying, yeah things were much better when schools were segregated.

Can we stop being fucking stupid? Or is that too much to ask once Larry, Moe, and Curly get on a roll?

Yes, that is my bad to ask for evidence when someone says schools in the '50's were fully funded compared to today. Sure, I'd love to have Dungheap's knowledge of government data but alas it was not to be so when someone makes that claim and I don't know the answer, which I don't, I don't see a problem with asking.

I saw a lot of posts haranguing her about segregation. I haven't read every post, has anyone? I feel sorry for you if you are out there. Anyway, that's why my post referenced that specifically...I am funny that way.

Well, you're right, of course. The thing is, Desh's level of discourse is so very high - the relentless onslaught of hard, proven factual information, the scintillating insight into causality, the immediate, relevant responses to any inquiry...it's all a bit much. What are we left with but bumping into each other and hitting each other over the head with pots & pans?
