Most of the world obsoleted slavery by addressing the issue owners had which was loss of value of their fixed assets. Govt compensated them and that solved the problem. Lincoln decided to murder 600000 instead and free zero slaves.

I think all of the unicorns in the UK were hunted out in the late 1800s. Women of Royalty missed their husbands who were always subjugating darker skinned people around the world. The solution was a suitable "husband replacement" in the form of a polished Unicorn horn. It was estimated that England had up to 10,000 Unicorns in the 1500s, but they were all gone by the 1900s....the animals that is. The Horns themselves are treasured by rich British women and passed down to their daughters.

Agreed from a military point of view. Taking out those two assholes would have saved the world from 50 years of pain.
OTOH, without the fucking commies, the US government wouldn't have spent the same amount of money on weapons research. Without those incentives, we'd probably would be 20-30 years behind today's technology.
Betamax and the TRS-80 would be the hot tech of 2020.

Why on earth should I hate America? In 1980 I bought a Betamax in Japan for about $500 when they were going for about $2000 stateside. I liked the smaller cassette format. By the late 1980s, the VCR Wars were favoring VHS at the video store so I switched machines to JVC.
I had a JVC too. worked good. Went to Panasonic for a few more home electronics and now have a Panasonic 3D Blu ray player. It plays all my standard DVD movies and concerts too.

I haven't converted to Blu-ray yet. DVD is fine for me, but like going from vinyl to 8-track to cassette to CD, it's cheaper to wait until all the bugs are worked out and the prices come down. Mainly prices.
That $2000 Betamax in 1980 became knock-off brands selling for $50 as DVDs were taking off. Same for big screen TVs. A $10,000 Plasma screen now sees larger flat-screens for under $300.
