Question: Did the Democratic National Committee or taxpayers pay for Mrs. Obama's clothes and/or handbag .. OR did the Obama's pay for them.
Well, I don't recall Michelle Obama calling other people "elitist" while buying tens of thousands of dollars on shopping sprees in New York City. But maybe I missed something.

Utter nonsense. This story didn't come out because the Rs found something to fault in Obama, it came out because Obama found it important enough to deny the purse.
This was my question too.
Then the secondary one, 'Why did the Obamas find it important enough to deny?'
If tax dollars had bought it, or if campaign funds bought it, it may have been important otherwise why was this important enough to even get a glance from the Obamas and put it into the news?

1) No one with the means needs an excuse to buy a $6000 purse.
2) It's not a $6,000 purse.
3) Most importantly, comparing this is the Plain wardrobe controversy is wrong because the brunt of the Palin wardrobe controversy was over the fact that McCain and Palin were calling Obama elitist while Palin was going on her spending sprees and Palin attempted to present an image of herself as "jus folks" while spending more that twice the median annual income at Barney's.

meme's post has no indication that this was a newsworthy story at all before the denial. This would not have been a story, even meme wouldn't have known about the purse, without first there being an official denial.
