Exactly. I have a neighbor who does nothing but go to garage and estate sales and buy cheap shit, really cheap shit, dirt cheap. Then she sells it on the Internet and she makes enough to live in my neighborhood. It's hard work but she makes it work.
I used to know people who bought stuff on eBay, then turned around and sold it on eBay, marketing it better. I could not believe it, but for a time it worked.
The old way of getting training for a job, and then using that training for 40 years, is dead. You need to constantly retrain yourself for new jobs, and constantly be looking for a new angle. We are all salmon going upstream until we die. The trick is to get as far upstream as possible before we die.
