White House Is Kissing a $15 Minimum Wage Goodbye

Exactly. I have a neighbor who does nothing but go to garage and estate sales and buy cheap shit, really cheap shit, dirt cheap. Then she sells it on the Internet and she makes enough to live in my neighborhood. It's hard work but she makes it work.

I used to know people who bought stuff on eBay, then turned around and sold it on eBay, marketing it better. I could not believe it, but for a time it worked.

The old way of getting training for a job, and then using that training for 40 years, is dead. You need to constantly retrain yourself for new jobs, and constantly be looking for a new angle. We are all salmon going upstream until we die. The trick is to get as far upstream as possible before we die.

Or you can be like RB and hope someone will take care of you.

Multiple income streams is the way to go brother.

One of the guys I go to car shows does that. He retired and makes a decent living. He says the packaging and shipping are a pain in the ass, but the profits are worth it and says people will buy just about anything on Ebay.

My neighbor told me that the shipping charge more than takes care of the packaging cost.

Waddaya mean "Or you can be like RB and hope someone will take care of you."?
Walt, I have 4 retirement accounts. I have vintage firearms worth enough to sustain
an ample income for some time. I retired at 59. I'm far from rich, but I'm comfortable.
They didn't have CNC's in the community college I took classes at back when I did.
I had to learn that (well some, anyway) and it helped in my advancement. It was my
roots in manual machining and my creativity in ways to machine prototypes that got
me my manager's job."Yeah, I can make that part (without having a clue yet), boss."

If they did not tax tips, then we could all be paid just by tips, and no one would have to pay taxes. That would be a bigger FU to the working class, because it would force them to beg to be paid.

I see no reason to incentive tip income above any other form of income. In fact, cash tips are often underreported, so are effectively taxed at a lower rate.

They are not technically even wages, and are really a form of a gift. And no, people would not be allowed to have wages/salaries denied to them over tips. They are underreported, but, the increase in electronic tipping has curbed this quite a lot.

It really is not possible to amend a bill without anyone noticing. There is no way to lie about what is in a bill, so honesty is not a thing. But you are right, Democrats just need to find a bill that Republicans have to pass, and add this to it. It might not happen this year, but I reassure you that Biden can run on having raised minimum wage.

That is not what I am saying....I am saying that with this crowd they certainly would act like it was not going to happen and then all the sudden it happens in order to short circuit those who object.

"There is only power".

They are technically wages. They are allowed to be used to reduce the wages that the employers pays.

Should bonuses also be tax free?

It is going to be a process that takes a year or two. There will be no short circuiting of objections, just the opposite. We will hear all the objections ad nauseam... And then Republicans will lose.

The last part is what you do not like. Sorry, Republicans are in the minority, and so will lose.

What ever the revolution cares most about will be jammed through...time will tell what those things are..... we will have a good idea by May.

Things are going to be bad in March, so I am happy to set the time to start seeing the effects in May. Honestly, many of the effects would be even later. Fall is the early effects, and the later effects could be decades from now. If you believe Biden's stimulus is overreaching, then late 2021 would be the high inflation time. We would see early growth clash with stimulus, which would cause inflation, thereby destroying the growth.

Democrats will be judged on their progress in November of 2022. What works best for that is a 2021 that sucks, and a 2022 that is great by comparison to a terrible 2021.

No, because bonuses are actually paid to an employee from their employer. A tip is literally a gift, in every sense of the meaning. The government taxes it, as it can many similar gifts, but chooses to lie about what it is taxing. That the government is taxing a gift that is an important part of the livelihoods of much of the working class is the aspect which is grotesque.
