There is a real insanity to the people who still back Bush.

This case is so sad and there are no winners in it. We are still such a racist society it just really brings me down. I wish to hell America would face the reality of it.

Pretending there is nothing wrong with kids hanging nooses from a tree to intimidate their black class mates and then being surprised when someone gets their ass kicked because they see the town approves of the action.

This country is doomed with these idiots in it.The republican base it trying hard to proove to the world they are racists as far as I can see.

This is honestly laughable. How is Bush tied to the kids who hung the noose and did this hate start only in 2001?

Just want to toot my own horn, from the Jena 6 thread, this is what I posted a few days earlier before this came out:

"Those white racists down there probably deserve the beatings, but you think the rest of the white community down there actually see it that way? It will incite more racism and maybe even get some of the black kids lynched now."
 
This was the crux of my conversation with BB yesterday (who by the way you may have noticed has ingnored this thread ENTIRELY though he has been on today). This is NOT an isolated incident in Jena just the one that made the news. The MAYOR thanked white supremacist groups for their support and the "victim" actually gave an interview to a white supremacist encouraging his audience to speak out and speak their minds (speaking their minds should not take long at all). Damo is right, the nooses where the equivilent to fighting words and blacks no longer will sit idly by and let racists intimidate them. Now they are going to take "pre-emptive" action to ensure their own safety.

"fighting words" is an archaic old west concept. In modern society, symbolic acts may not be countered with violence. Sorry.

Affirmative action is a violation of the constitutional rights of whites or males, or whomever gets identified as "too successful".

While there are many valuable moral messages in religion, as a whole oranized religions are corrupt power structures.

Where did I say anything about Bush? Have you listened at all to who is saying this kids deserve to go to prison?

It is the republican base who is on the side of the townfolk who were trying to keep their black people in line.

If my son hung a noose from a tree I would have tanned his hide myself.

any of my kids EVER hang a noose from a tree in this manner and they will wish that six kids kicked their ass.

My son would have been much more likely to demand that the black kids got to sit under the tree and stood with them.

These people in this town never taught their kids to act Like Americans.
