Eisenhower wasn't so much "manly" as he was a very level headed adult. That's what made him a good President and a bad politician.
 
There is also Harry Truman, made the biggest decision of any president, to drop the atomic bombs on Japan to end World War Two, he also integrated our arm forces too?!!

Arkhipov was the commander of the submarine flotilla (4 boats) and just happened to be on B-59 at the right time. Had he not been there or agreed to the use of that torpedo, a nuclear war would have ensued.

JFK was in a world of shit with the Cuban missile crisis. Have rightys rewritten that already? The Soviets were moving missiles into Cuba including nukes. It was a scary time with JFK standing tough with nuclear war as a real possibility. The early blockade was a real risk.

And the US was moving missiles into England, Italy, and Turkey with nukes on them in larger numbers. That set off the Soviets to seek a reply and that reply was Cuba.

Roosevelt was a sickly man who overcompensated, but yes he was manly. Ford would probably be the most manly in my lifetime. He had a calm athletic manliness that did not need to boast. JFK served bravely in war, but was also overcompensating.

He had nothing to boast about, He spent 35 years in the house and presented almost zero bills. The reason the Dems approved naming him to replace Nixon was that he was inconsequential. They were sure Ford was not going to run on his own. How could he?
 
I've only seen the ones going back to Truman, and most of you have seen a lot fewer than that.
How is one supposed to know who was manly? Who even agrees what "manly" is?

More to the point, I thought Dubya Bush was both manly and personable. He was fit, had poise, and was friendly to everybody of all ethnicities and persuasions.
Nevertheless, I hated his guts. He pandered to war profiteers and other corporate oligarchs and to theocrats, started an unnecessary war than cost trillions, and was so socially regressive that he wanted to privatize Social Security.
So I liked him superficially but realized that he was a useless son of a bitch (and his mom, Barbara Bush, certainly was a bitch).
