Who Here Supports Freedom Of Speech.

I am a huge defender of freedom of speech, but unfortunately I don't believe that extends to internet forums.

People often mistake freedom to say what they want with freedom to be heard. That is usually the mistake those who complain about my thread bans make.

Good point, Joe.

you dont approve of free speech on internet forums, like you said.

You are misconstruing what I am saying. I am saying that you do not have free speech rights on an internet forum. This forum is owned by one single person. All of us post here at his discretion. He can choose arbitrarily what you can and cannot post about.

For example. Let's say that I am part of a gun message board (I am) but someone comes on there and is insistent upon posting about cooking? Well, it is a gun message board if you want to talk about cooking go to a cooking message board. Are your free speech rights being hindered? Not one bit. You can still freely talk about cooking, you just can't do it on that board if the owner so chooses.

The first amendment was written with the federal government in mind. You are free to say what you wish, that doesn't mean others are obliged to give you a forum to do so. That would infringe upon their rights.

I am right. You are wrong

I defend free speech on an internet forum. you do not. you are not a strong defender of free speech. your boutique weasel worded construction of the small context in which you defend speech makes you look like an idiot.

By your reasoning, I have the right to spray paint graffiti across your house, and if you try to stop me, you're violating my right to free speech.

so you believe your right to say whatever you want supersedes Damo's right to run his message board any way he sees fit?

we will agree to disagree

damo agrees with me on granting free speech on his forum. damo's a strong defender of free speech. you arent.

tell ya what, ask those who have been slapped for violating 12b if their free speech rights were violated

If Dam agreed with you, he wouldn't have any rules for his forum would he?

Your concession is humbly accepted
