Um - reading comprehension? he was suggesting new regulations, which could include amending the constitution, which is needed because so many people have taking the second amendment way too far. Or, our founders really thought machine guns in every house were ok, in which case we need to amend it to protect ourselves from THEIR stupidity on this issue.

Our founders wanted militaey grade arms in civilian hands. For self defense purposes. From not just the asshole next door, but the government. They were quite determined to balance local, federal, and civilian power.
 
Notice that chainsaw accidents, plane crashes, and auto wrecks don't seem to engender these politically-motivated calls for action?

Also the ONLY allowable regulation is to amend the Constitution.
