Why are US athletes taxed on Olympic medal wins?

why did you defend obama for doing the same thing?

Im not sure what you are talking about? I would defend both Mitt and Obama for taking legal deductions, noone should pay more than legally required.

you're defending romney? lmao. are you really this dense? do read what you write? you've been slamming romney for pay "very little taxes"....yet you never once slammed obama for doing the same thing, in fact, you outright defended his right to do so. but you have done nothing but complain about mitt doing the same thing.

please jarod....just admit your double standard and move on.

I'm surprised the board liberals haven't suggested we tax any medals earned by the Swiss.....undoubtedly they will be depositing it in Swiss bank accounts for the purpose of avoiding US taxes......

I think this is fucking awesome coming from the guy that was all worked up about not seeing Obama's college records.

Also, too, the idea that we'd hear from the IRS if a presidential candidate's tax returns are squirrely is horseshit speculation having no basis in reality whatsoever.

I am "worked up"? This is rich. I think you have mistaken reporting with emotive support that has never existed.

Again, I think that the year before is enough. It tells nothing more or less than seeing many years.

Romney isn't even officially the candidate, if I were he I'd wait until after he is officially the candidate, then release last year's taxes if I were going to release any further tax returns.

Tax returns are not a constitutional requirement.

That being said, "citizenship is."

The vast majority of Presidents, and presidential candidates have never given any tax returns for the public to see.

Almost all Americans have some investment in overseas companies, whether through their 401K or through simple bank accounts. Reported earnings from such accounts are not tax exempt. It is silly to suggest there is something "tax" related as to why money is in those banks.

Another thing they should pay attention to is that the money is in blind trust. He has no control over where it is invested, other than he has responsibility to pay taxes on the capital gains earnings.

Ah, yes. The old blind trust ruse. Here's what our Mitt had to say about blind trusts.

My problem is not that Mitt used every tool available to him to pay as little as legally possable. My problem is that those tools were available to Mitt in the first place and that Mitt promotes keeping the system that allowed him to pay a smaller effective tax rate than struggeling middle class families.

Just like Obama; but you tend to overlook and forget that; HUH!! :palm:

What people object to the most is that, as you say, Romney has access to many ways to keep his tax bill as low as possible. The longer he takes to show his records the more people will be suspicious that he has something to hide.

Only the liberal loony left, who weren't going to vote for him anyway. :D

Or he could wait three years and then do it. :D
