This is not meant to be rayciss, just curiosity.
Cities tend to be dirty, crime ridden , violent cesspools with overcrowded traffic.

It's interesting, I've basically lived in urban areas my entire life - Oakland, SF & LA (in the cities of, not talking suburbs). I know it's a personal preference thing but I love cities. Yes there are issues but at the same time this is where the action is - jobs, nightlife, sports teams, culture etc.

People have asked me why am I raising my daughter in an urban area rather than a suburb but it's what I know. At times it would be nice to have a yard, yes. But still so much going on here that it makes up for it.

And of course in any urban area you can find well to do suburbs. But as cities have gentrified over the past several decades crime and poverty have moved to the suburbs. So it becomes an economic thing.

I know some people love the slower pace of rural life. Totally understandable. But most (well paying) jobs and economic growth tend not to be in rural areas. That's your trade off.
