Why do the Texas border counties almost all vote Democratic?

Border towns citizens go over the border regularly for shopping and entertainment. The Mexicans come over here for shopping and entertainment. Many speak Spanish and communicate with the Mexicans on a friendly basis. They know they are just people like they are.
 
To my understanding many Texas border counties are heavily Hispanic. Hispanics have traditionally voted for Democrats (not in the same numbers as blacks or Jewish people but still in strong numbers).

Yet the Republicans have started to gain in these areas. So it would be like Democrats bragging they won the black vote. Or Republicans bragging they won the evangelical vote. But each with smaller percentages than in the past. Yes, you still won but usually getting a smaller number among a portion of your base is not a good thing.

It is because they and the Mexicans travel back and forth for shopping restaurants and work. They know them, and many are bi- lingual and they are not taught to hate them like Trumpys are.
