Oh. About those heads? The ones I've seen come whole, heads, eyeballs lips, and all. What do you do about the head problem?

I'm always truthful...I'm a retired teacher, says the State of Ohio-they pay me after all, for life...so why would they lie? There's nothing "hidden"...that's just silly...

You have to look for cleaned smelt. I assume that even if there is a head, they have been gutted? I'll pay attention the next time I go shopping. Simply cut off the head if they happen to have one.

Then Mr. Owl is safe. The Delta Smelt is a anadromous fish. They aren't fresh water fish.

Never bought 'fresh', as buying fish in a store is mutually exclusive to 'fresh'. Once breaded/fried, you cannot detect any softness issues. I merely refer to the fact that the entire spine pulls from the meat easily after being frozen.

Okay.. Thanks... I'm going to pass if I can't get them fresh.. Too delicate to be frozen properly in my humble opinion .. Especially frozen for a good length of time....But I know a lot of people enjoy them that way so... Since obviously that's the easiest way to get them... again...Thanks for taking the time to reply.
