My dad served WWII, my husband served in 'Nam, two nephews were in Gulf War 1, one heads a unit in Afghanistan currently and he was in Iraq, one is currently serving in S. Korea, one nephew is in the Air Force and another is in boot camp, a niece is at West Point, a brother in law a West Point graduate and was also in Gulf War 1. My sons best friend is currently in Germany on his way to Afghanistan and served two tours in Iraq, another nephew is in the Merchant Marines, sorry I forgot you, R.!

We have had discussions about gay, all are for this repeal and none have ever had any trouble with gays.

So basically you never served in the military, which means you don't know what you're talking about, you're just promoting the homo agenda.
 
charlie you went in the military cause you couldn't afford the shitty community college you eventually went to. You are not virtous cause you served. Your the poster boy for the military has assholes too.

Not at all. There are plenty of examples of highly decorated men & women in our military who were outted and discharged. These people do not want to swish or show themselves as flaming gays. The only want to be able to serve in the military.

So her reply to C. Bass was spot-on accurate.

That is total nonsense. We have discharged an average of 1,000 military personnel a year from 1997 to 2001. But strangely, the numbers dropped off sharply during the war. Since 2005 we have discharged an average of 730 per year thru DADT.

Those are men and women who want to serve. Many had years of experience and expensive training, making them more valuable.



But Mr. Bass, you didn't answer my questions.

Bullshit. There are plenty of examples of quality military personnel being outted. My wife went to school with an man who joined the Air Force and excelled at his field. He was promoted and given more and more training opportunities. One such opportunity was an OCS billet. The competition for the billet was tough, and one of his competitors outted him to try and win the billet to be an officer.

I served in the military. I have many friendships from my days in the US Navy. I have not talked to a single one of my friends who think DADT was anything but a cop-out by Bill Clinton.

Its not a "homo agenda". It is simply wanting people to be free from having to hide who they are in order to serve. People's sex lives should be private. But it should not have to be hidden in order to allow them to serve in the US military.
