What's "political" about that? If that is how their target markets view those two words, then the marketing directors of corporations will act accordingly - for the purpose of maximizing shareholder wealth - politics has nothing to do with it. Money does.
 
Again... This is a marketing decision made for strictly economic reasons. it has nothing to do with political parties.
 
You actually expect corporations to forego target market research and act in some socially conscious way even though all of the data tells them it will cost them money and market share? What fucking planet do you LIVE on?

Dean is perceived as Southern bigot. No one knows, considers or cares about her politics. Its how she is perceived first as a southerner, then as a bigot.
Everyone KNOWS Baldwin is a big Democrat supporter and can do no wrong.

The food network made its decision based on MONEY. Period. Sponsors make decisions based upon ONLY that. If capital one thought that Baldwin's outburst would cost them market share, they would can him regardless of how liberal you might think he is... And if their target market research indicated that they would NOT lose market share, they'd keep him, even if he were a raging conservative. Politics has fuck all to do with it. It's ALL about maximizing shareholder wealth. No business is going to let politics obscure their view of the bottom line.

public outcry and public perception(politics) = money, ... The Food Network didn't wait for a any monetary backlash, not for a second.....they just assumed it could happen
because of the perception of Dean as a typical southern bigot or racist and the excessive coverage it generated compared to Baldwin's coverage....the danger of monetary loss might not have happened at all. Baldwins bigitory is already forgetten one day after it happened.

In essence, we're generally saying the same thing....your reason is to defend FN's decision and demon-ize Dean, while making little of the bigotry of Baldwin
and the ho hum attitude of the liberal media in general....
My purpose is to point out that Dean is getting railroaded for something she admitted saying 30 years ago and how ridiculous it is to hold that against her today....
I would bet YOU have used that very same utterance more than once yourself over the years......and how unfair it would be to hold it against you now....

I am not demonizing either one of them... The marketplace will determine their value after such incidents...not politics.
