The thing is leftists will say anything they have to to push the narrative. They don't care to get it's contradicts anything they've said in thr past or will say in tbe future.
Are the recent wars of aggression not teaching rightys anything? Afghanistan, Vietnam, and Iraq, all were unconquerable, but not holdable. The people do not just accept invaders. They will drain Russian troops forever until they go home. They will go underground and make constant attacks. Can Russia afford that? Rusia will always be the country that attacked a peaceful Ukraine.

The thing Russia needs to decide is are they going to go to the Dnieper and take Odessa to make Ukraine a unviable rump that would likely be taken by Poland, or do they drive all the way to Poland and need to deal with the Nazi's of the West. The idea of Ukraine existing and being a neutral buffer between Russia and NATO gets less likely by the day, but I am not sure that Russia cares much now that America and Europe are in collapse and NATO is very weak and likely going away. Poland will likely take the Rump of Ukraine so the Russia Poland border would be the Dnieper....Poland may or may not get Kiev....that would be up to the Russians.
The Dnieper is very important economically to the region and the cities along it, having it be the border between Russia and Poland or Russia and the Rump of Ukraine would be a source of constant problems, and would cause massive problems for the cities along it to include Kiev, but I doubt that would be a deal breaker for the Russians. Maybe Kiev gets split like Berlin was....it would wither which would be sad but as some point it would be reunited.
Ukraine will win back all their territory. Putin will get kicked out or die.

I'm just glad we have no boots on the ground there, and no equipment to leave for terrorists, and the only American that might get abandoned is Sean Penn.
Now we've overspent ensuring that Ukraine will likely wind up with a decent result. Once we started, it is my opinion that we could not stop as it became us against Russia with Ukraine as our stand in. If we give up on Ukraine it signals to China that Taiwan is up for grabs as we won't do anything, and giving up Taiwan is just ceding our tech future to China. My 2 cents worth. I'm just one conservative who believes he understands what is at stake. We can't let China be the sole provider of necessary elements of our technologies or we will just be letting them into our systems through the back door. And what happens here will affect how China will act when we draw a line in Taiwan.

I am glad we are out, even at great cost. Less cost than if we had stayed. Glad Biden had the balls to pull out, some did not.
Vietnam was a group of determined locals fighting off a superpower. I would not say Russia is a full global superpower anymore, but they are certainly not the Vietcong in this story.
For the record, I do not support the governmental policies of the Vietcong, but their military strategy sure did work. It took about 40 years.

I would not say exactly the same, but close enough. The Vietcong made it a point not to have an exit strategy. It was their country, and they were going to defend it. The Ukrainians are more or less the same way.
The Russians questioned the idea of keep pumping money into Vietnam, but it worked in the long run.
