Mandatory discrimination does not reduce discrimination. Making discrimination against one group IMPOSSIBLE by MANDATING discrimination against another is a concept which bears no relationship to justice of any kind. You're ethically retarded.

Just to save everyone some time, and because your incessant prattling of the same illogical position over and over really bores me, let me be somewhat more explicit.

Government policy does not, generally speaking, cause prejudice and discrimination. It may, at times, reinforce such degeneracy. At other times government policy can be used to undermine entrenched cultural prejudice. Either way, the government policy is up to us, while the prejudice already exists.

Discrimination against people of color in our society is a fact. It is not caused by government policy. It is not an artifact of Affirmative Action. It is the result of ignorant, hateful people who think more of their rights than their responsibilities and who just can't bear to question what they learned in kindergarten. What you learned by kindergarten, while useful and important, is still full of childish, immature nonsense. It's the task of the adult to winnow out the useful kernels from the chaff. Those who will not are destructive to society as a whole.

We can either use government policy to correct our own worst traits or we can let those traits fester and breed. There is no middle ground.

If colleges did not adopt a policy of affirmative action after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, would schools, like UT Austin and those in south Like Kentucky which did not even have blacks on its basketball team in 1966, just start admitting black students out of the goodness of their hearts? Would black students have gotten the same consideration as whites. Not only that, but how, in the early and mid 60's did a black child get the same education through 12th grade to EVER compete with white kids? Affirmative action was a necessary policy, because white american made a conscious and exerted effort to keep blacks poorly educated. There was OVERWHELMING evidence in Brown and its progeny that education was no where close to equal in white and black schools. In school in the Topeka Independent School District, black schools educational equipment and books were YEARS behind the white schools. Blacks would not have even gotten into college in the early years of desegregation.

The thing that also bothers me is NO ONE complains about legacy admissions that have historically benefitted unqualified and underqualified white students in the american college system based solely on the fact that your grandpa Prescott went to Yale as well. Legacy admissions are every bit as racially driven as simple AA admission policies. Do I think they are necessary now, probably not. But is it the EVIL that all the White Whiners claim? No. I am white, male and american and AA did not keep me from getting to ANY of the law schools I applied to and SHOULD have been accepted to.
 
I think any university, private or otherwise, that gives preferential admission based on legacy or athletics should have it's license to operate revoked.
