It was Ukraine and NATO that created the setting for Russia to attack as they were gearing up to attack Russia over time by taking away the security buffer that once existed when they added many new NATO members up to the Russian border.

Russia WILL take Ukraine despite all the $$$ and the few military toys Ukraine has been getting for two years, but what is really missed by you and others here is that this is a PROXY war between the West and Russia using the men of Ukraine to do the dirty work for them (Cannon fodder) in the irrational bid to take down Russia.

Neville Chamberlain should be recognised more for his singular achievement in buying time for the UK to build up its defences, especially with regards to fighters like the Hurricane and Spitfire and the Chain Home radar network.
Churchill wanted to build up the bomber fleet at the expense of fighters, luckily Chamberlain prevailed and there were enough fighters to ward off Goering's Lufwaffe in the Battle of Britain.
