I assume it was a male; but with today's "identifying", I can't say definitively.
How convenient.
Did this "minion" of indeterminate gender take your name?

And yes they did, along with my home phone #.
PM them to me so I can check your story.
PM you with what??
A frivolous suit can be dismissed. I doubt that will happen in this case.

There is also something called vexatious litigation, but, again, that is unlikely.

As far as recovering damages, costs and fees, it doesn't happen often.
Usually this happens only if Plaintiff countersues and a judge awards them damages and fees. Many times this is prohibited by the terms of a settlement agreement. A court order which is enforceable details what the parties may or may not do.

The American rule, which varies from state to state, is a major factor.

The name and number you allegedly left with the Walmart "minion".
Doesnt a settlement presume liability, fault? In other words, would Walmart have to stop locking up items they believe to be high risk for theft?

Oh well, then, you have no proof.
But I still like you.

Tell you what - you PM me your info and I'll have them contact you.
No. Many settlements - usually by mutual agreement - do not assign fault, and it is normal practice for a binding gag order to be part of the settlement so nobody can discuss it.
Part of what Allred and her client are demanding is an end to locking up "black" products and an apology. That would be an admission of fault and would open Walmart up to a federal discrimination suit, so that's unlikely.
Likewise, an end to theft prevention by normal means would be a disaster for retailers, so Allred knows she has leverage to extract a big settlement, which she will use to her advantage (and her enrichment).
As CFM correctly pointed out, there's literally nothing to prevent other Plaintiffs from filing similar suits, so we may be witnessing an avalanche. In fact, it's entirely possible that hundreds of cases have already been filed and quietly settled, but Allred has the profile to gain an advantage from publicity, and I suspect her client will pay a premium for that.
Thanks for the response. I would hope Walmart would fight it for precisely the reason that Allred does bring attention. I think there is enough proof that retailers lock up any high theft item- regardless of which skin tone buys them.
For instance, let’s say I am the white parent of a mixed raced, or adopted black child. I go to Walmart to buy my child a hair extension, or some other racial particular product. It’s under lock and key because the price point is high, it’s a popular item, and it’s an item that is stolen a lot. Well looks like all hair extensions are locked up- even white people’s hair extensions! I also need to pick up some fresh razor blades- dang locked up too!
I would, except that I made no claim requiring that information for evidence of performance. Nice try, though.
Which of course has nothing to do with you giving me your info and me having them contact you.
Don't be skeert.
I'm no more skeert than you are, old pal. If I wanted to talk with Walmart I would.
I don't.
Sure you don't - I understand.
I'm glad. I'd hate for our friendship to end just because I expect evidence for claims that people make. Even my friends.
Especially when you don't want to help yourself and allow someone to contact you.
I wouldn't want to ruin your witness protection program.
I do? When did I do that?
