Women to now be allowed in combat roles

Hand to hand is a very rare thing. Its even rarer that should some sort of hand to hand occur that the opponents are by themselves. Modern tactics and policy dictate the smallest group to be at least two, more often then not 4-6 or greater. In that instance the risk is negligable. One may be at a disadvantage, but it is short lived when several friends with guns are within 10 meters.

Unless those people with guns are from Michigan and Ohio, then they are even more screwed. Not only at a disadvantage in hand to hand, but also facing a higher likelihood of friendly fire due to poor marksmanship.

I hear you brother and I don't disagree .. but prisoners of war happen .. and many of their stories don't end like the fake Hollywood version, Jerry Bruckheimer produced "Rescue" of Jessica Lynch. It was a bullshit story .. ask Jessica Lynch. Fortunately the people who captured her were sane. Al Queda .. the rebels NATO used in Libya .. are not sane people. We should put women in combat positions against THEM? Anyone take a look at what they did to prisoners in Libya?

This isn't fire or police work.

Again, I admit this could be based on my own personal relationship to the issue .. but I don't think so. I've always been protective of women .. perhaps by today's standards, I'm overly-protective.

But that will never change .. and I don't want it to change.

Are you saying that all republicans are immoral?

Some of my favorite people are republicans .. like you. :0)

Senator Everett Dirsken (R) was a civil rights hero .. who never got the recognition.

However, my daughter has a deep affinity for the poor. Even though I grew up poor, she didn't. But I made sure she saw through the eyes of the poor with community involvement and participation .. sometimes forced. What she saw and experienced stuck with her. I'm proud of that.

Republicans have no interest in the poor, thus, she'd have no interest in becoming one. She even researches the stores she shops at to see if they have programs for the poor.

I also taught her about race ... A LOT. :0) I taught her to look beyond it in people. To help those she can .. but make a special effort to help someone of another race. It seems that stuck as well. The biological mother of her baby is white, once a fellow soldier. The father is black. She couldn't raise her because of severe PTSD. Thought about an abortion .. my daughter adopted her while she was still in the womb.

That kind of love your sister belief is not exhibited within the Republican Party.

It's not because republicans are immoral, they just don't care about people.

I could go on but that would start driving the subject towards something else, and then I'd have to move the thread.
