Word Association: What's The First Word That Comes To Mind When You Hear 'Trump?'

A simple game.

PoliTalker anti-troll thread thief disclaimer: If this thread is stolen, plagiarized, will the thief have the nerve to use the entire OP, word for word? Including this disclaimer? If you want my take on it, you'll have to post to this original PoliTalker thread. I refuse to be an enabler for online bullies, so I won't post to a stolen thread. I won't even read it. If you don't see me, PoliTalker, posting in this thread check the author. This might be a hijacked thread, not the original.

Feel free to explain why you associate President Trump with whatever word you do.

Have fun!

CHUMP!...

...for a variety of reasons that I think are apparent.

You really do love him, deep in your heart.

I love that his mere existence is so vile to Hillary supporters. That you folks consider yourself intellectually superior to everyone and then do your politicking in a manner that makes the Klan's vitriol seem like diet, gluten-free hate lite is just icing on the cake.

Hello Sirthinksalot,

A glaring warning to what can happen to a self-government if the populace is largely apathetic, misinformed and disengaged.

I hope we learn our lesson.

Hi Politalker,

I would disagree with your assessment for a couple of reasons.

Apathetic - Trump actually snapped a large segment of voters (mainly working class white folks) out of their apathy. Many people got out and voted for the first time in their lives, because Trump's message of "America putting Americans first" inspired them. (To the trolls who will make claims about racism and dog whistles, don't waste your keystrokes. I don't buy your lying trash talk.)

Misinformed- The average Trump supporter is more informed than the average Democratic voter.

Disengaged - Again, Trump had a message that inspired hopefulness in a large swath of Americans who had become disengaged. A lot of them were former Democrats, white blue collar types who were literally abandoned by the Democratic party during the Obama years in favor of a cobbled together collection of "grievance groups".

Trump is poorly educated and poorly informed white trash.. You can buy all the gilded French Provincial Furniture on the planet and paint all the cherubs on the ceiling you can afford, but Trump is still trash.

Hello Sirthinksalot,

Hi Politalker,

As is your right.

Apathetic - Trump actually snapped a large segment of voters (mainly working class white folks) out of their apathy. (To the trolls who will make claims about racism and dog whistles, don't waste your keystrokes. I don't buy your lying trash talk.)

It doesn't matter what you 'buy.' Trump actually inspired more apathy than he reduced. Voter turn-out for that election was down. Obama got more votes.

While people latched onto the catch phrases of Trump's campaign, nobody could really define them. What needed to happen to make American great again? Again? What's that mean? When was America great previously? Give us a year. Trump never elaborated. It was very slick. A buzz word phrase that everybody can see what they want to see in it, one which can never be precisely defined. One with no way to verify if it has ever occurred or not. Trump inspired people to vote who wanted to destroy government because they don't understand it and don't think anybody should pay taxes.

One of the reasons nobody wanted to be nailed down to defining when America was previously great is because we have a history full of racism. If America was 'great' for white people, it was very bad for black people in the past.

Misinformed- The average Trump supporter is more informed than the average Democratic voter.

I don't believe that. And I totally disagree. You are going to have to back that up before I will believe it. Seeing things that are not there does not make people informed. Latching onto conspiracy theories does not make people informed. Pretending illegal immigration is a national emergency is not informed. You know, even if a wall was built? It is not going to fix the economy. The only reason Republicans want this is to try to prevent our nation from becoming more Hispanic. Republicans don't like the way the demographics are moving away from them. Republicans are the party of old white guys, not modern America.

Wanting to destroy our government is not a hopeful message. But many Trump supporters voted for him because they didn't understand government, didn't like what they don't understand, don't get the big picture of why we have this big government, and wanted to 'shake things up.' They thought Steve Bannon was 'visionary.' What a crock. It will take years to rebuild some of the damage done, especially in the area of diplomacy and matters of State. We put a bull in the china shop.
