Really important how you are immune to disasters, illnesses, and accidents. You can predict your future so well.
If one of those happens, you do not get a free ride, but the government programs will help you. There may be some people that actually are happy living a the hardscarabble existence that the food stamps and support give them, but II know of none.
Rightys claimed that blacks did not want to work when jobs were not available. When the economy did well, they got jobs. Trump claims blacks are working at a greater rate than in the past. Yet rightys still cannot understand they want to work just like anyone else. It has been proven.
Quit demonizing those who got a short straw.

No. They do not get free healthcare. When they get sick enough, they go to emergency. They get enough treatment to save them and are sent home. That is not free healthcare.
I have been in emergency. There are accidents and some poor people. If you get hurt,you will have to go there too.

& sometimes ppl come here on vacation & when they get off the plain suddenly realize they need surgery or they'll die.. It happens a lot, must be something in the water on those planes........

Like you, I have taken care of my kids & I am taking care of myself but unfortunately there are lots of ppl that do feel the big O' system aka you & I owe them..

I have asked this question w/ various twists over the last 15+ years or so & it was originally based on a news report of a couple about to be deported for over staying their visit here from Portugal by twenty years.. During that time they have never worked & received welfare & subsidized housing in the Bronx..

The lady doing the interview said several times that it would be so cruel to force them to move back there, after they have established their lives here :blah: :blah: :blah:

I will never forget seeing them sitting on their coach feeling that Americans should take care of them the rest of their lives here........ Never contributed anything?? I just will never understand how some ppl feel that is right-I would never go to Portugal, not work & expect the Portuguese tax payers to feed & house me.....

No.

But as always with life, there is no black-and-white answer. If I was a young working person with dependent children, and became so severely disabled that I could no longer earn a living, I would want my fellow taxpayers to step up and provide us enough to survive on. That would end -- for the kids -- when they turn 18. We have that safety net now in the form of social security disability. I do not begrudge any adjudicated disabled person a penny of their disability benefit.
