I would guess that 95% of working (and us retired) adults would answer NO to Bill's question -- but most of us would also qualify that with a "what if ___ happened and I couldn't work anymore?" Or "What if I was in a natural disaster and lost everything including my home, job, and possessions?" Most of us would STILL not expect to be supported for the rest of our lives. I'm not sure that I understand the virtue-signaling and anger regarding the question, especially since no one so far has said "Yeah, gimme a life of no work and thanks!"

A couple years ago we took my wife to emergency. The woman in the curtained off area next to us was being sent away. They did not honor her insurance and were not going to treat her. They did go through the trouble of telling her what hospitals would provide care. Told her to drive to one of them.
No emergency does not treat everyone.

As you know, if it is a real emergency the Dr has no choice but to treat..

I have talked often about a local intern & his shocking experience @ a local hospital over in Stockton, ca......

Ppl from all over the world in there getting free surgery, some fresh off the plane, others here many years saying they just got here & suddenly realized they need immediate surgery.........

While their family that paid for their vacation to come here & get the surgery think this is a big rich country that can afford to give it free to their important 90 yr old aunt, those actually paying for it, probably wont agree............

This should make Bill very sad. The fact is Social Security supports children who are born with defects that make it impossible for them to enter society. It also supports children whose parental breadwinner dies. It supports people who get into accidents and cannot work.
Yeah some people have supported their whole lives, or from the point of an accident onward. They are not seeking it.
 
Rightys always look in the wrong direction. Our tax money goes to the top, The wealthy are cleaning up. It is so human to blame those below us in America. That is the American way. It is wrong.
