If they're working at minimum wage, it's because they offer a low skill set. Social Security is not a social welfare program. You qualify for it because you contributed to it. You qualify for handouts because you contribute nothing to society.

The market dictates what jobs are worth in pay. The government seems to think it has a role in doing that.
Skills and value of those skills is all that should matter. Personal situations shouldn't play a role in what someone is paid.
I don't assume everyone has the same IQ or ambition. If they lack in both, they should get paid little to nothing.

Defense is a delegated authority of ANY government. It is also the authority of you, the individual. You can defend yourself, your family, your property, your city, your county, your State, or your nation. You, as an individual have that right.
A State has the authority to defend itself, as a State, because it is a free State. It uses militias to do that.
The federal government has the authority and the responsibility to defend itself, and the States, and you. That authority was given to it by the States, and through the States, by the people of this great nation.
I personally know of a couple with a Down syndrome child. This individual is now 32 years old and never was able to work. He is still living with his parents, who tirelessly care for him. There are already arrangements with extended family to care for this individual when his parents no longer can. From time to time, their local church also helps out with manpower to assist them. This is charity at it's most divine level. No one is forced to help anyone.
Kids have two parents. Where's the father? He's not supporting his own kids? Why should anyone else be forced to support such evil?

The wealthiest guy I know did not inherit his wealth, but his father got him into Notre Dame, paid for it, then got him his first job, where he stayed for less than 20 years and left with an $11,000,000 package. His parents bought him his first house. Because he had no mortgage he was able to invest A LOT more than I ever was able to invest and that $11,000,000 is small beans to this guy. I had help from my parents as well, but they did not pay for my school and they did not buy me a house. They did give me some money for a car when I left for college. I inherited about $12,000, I still pay $650 a month on my student loans. I graduated from law school almost 22 years ago.

There’s no need for a DOE in America and no need for social welfare as it currently operates.
Using technology, the poor can be helped by the private sectors and the mentally insane can be helped by those individuals who can be recipients of funding from the private sector because they have the desires and qualifications to do the work of restoration of the sick.
If it costs the state of Michigan $12/year to educate or student why not pay parents (one parent is required to be employed) $12k per child to homeschool?
A black man with median income of $35k per year has 4 kids. Rather than welfare he because he’s married and employed can get $48,000. Per year for his wife to homeschool.
How much of an impact will this have on his life, self esteem, and on the lives of his children so that they become outstanding citizens of our country?

In the Constitution, it's one of a small number for the federal government. The 2nd amendment, also in the Constitution, covers the other part.
Kids do have two parents. Whether the father is involved or not is not my concern nor my responsibility to help offset. The mother picked him when she spread her legs.
