It's pretty mixed for me - but I'm more of a centrist.

Some areas of the country are WAY too left. A state like NY is interesting - NYC is liberal, but large swaths upstate are much more conservative. Same w/ PA and Philly.

But some states are definitely TOO red. I look at Alabama's frozen embryo ruling, and know there is no way I could ever live there, or even travel there. It's like they're in the dark ages.

Yet, that is where the population is moving including younger groups.

8/10 of the highest crime states were the same states as when they were controlled by Democrats. So, political party obviously does not account for crime.

I think Ohio is ranked 34 out of 50 states.

Which is better than the state I live in, Texas which ranks way down there at 41 out of 50!

This is about K-12 combined public and private school rankings.

However both of our states rate a lot higher than that in Higher Education rankings!

But both Ohio and Texas have a long way to go in K-12 education, as our drop-out rates are horrible.

We are amongst the worst in that category- both Ohio and Texas!

As I mentioned our local schools are stellar, but even they have work to do...they've been distracted, and sometimes forget that it's all about the kids...and the teachers...Things are turning around...
Remember...it's all about getting the parents and the community involved and interested and respectful of a great education for their children...We can't do it without them...
I wish that everyone could spend a few days teaching...they'd better understand what's going on...what's necessary and what is a complete waste of time and money...
And they would totally have more respect for what teachers do every day...and how hard they work..
(We do have great universities and colleges...I'm very proud to be a Buckeye alum...c/o '77...;) If you're a Texas alum, I'm sure you feel the same...my uncle taught geology at Texas Tech years ago...that's the only actual Texas connection I've ever had...he loved teaching there...)

Why do you disagree with that particular "frozen embryo" ruling? Do you have any idea of why people freeze embryos to begin with? So if they're carelessly destroyed how devastating that might be? That's pretty heartless...
