Young Americans Consider GOP ‘The Dumb Party,’ Says Conservative Author

No .... children are taught from liberal teachers from the start . When they grow up they either realize how stupid it is
and stay dumb liberals , or they grow up to the reality of the World .

Do you really believe that? You repeat every single righty mantra like it is unarguably true. If you went to school, then you must be a Liberal. So you did not go to school?

I would love to see a fair debate live and on Fox News featuring- Donald Trump- and just pick out any 3 5th graders in the country- your choice! LOL!

You might want to inform some of your more disturbed fellow (R)s here that the same is true of those of us on the other side of the political rainbow. It seems that there are very few true conservatives left any more in the (R) party. They were labeled traitors and RINOs and kicked to the curb for not worshiping the shiny new emperor and his shiny new clothes.

Both political parties prey on fear -- but yours does most of all. Fear of other, fear of the future, fear of difference, fear of losing power, fear fear fear. When I was an 7-yo girl, crouching under her classroom desk during yet another nuclear attack drill, I decided that I was going to stop being afraid of the stupid adults who kept telling us that Russia was going to bomb us into atoms. I just knew that over there was some 7-yo Russian girl fearing that WE were going to bomb HER into atoms. I've never wavered from being extremely skeptical when stupid "adults" are telling me to fear this thing and that thing. (D)s do it too, only not as bad as you guys.

Wouldn't it be great if we'd just stop listening to the stupid adults and decide for ourselves where the truth is, and who/what/when to be worried?

This post though is just another assumption, and one of the simplest ways to try to train your mind away from reality and fit your thought within the simpler boundaries of propaganda. When people try to fit others within these boundaries is usually when they go awry. The color of the jersey doesn't necessarily control the thought of the personality.

What is the difference between a "true conservative" and today's conservative?

What's the difference between a republican and a conservative?

Can you give an example of an issue where liberals prey on fear?

Easy one. People who over and over, vote against their own interests and for the wealthy can be thought of as not too bright. The trickle-down economic philosophies have morphed into Trump's tinkle down and more tax breaks for the wealthy. Gutting banking regulations was done because the reds love the people and know bankers are fair and honest. Corporations know when the environment needs protection, It is not now, maybe not forever.

You meant to address this to Damo, right? He's the one making distinctions between conservatives, real conservatives, and Republicans. From here they all look pretty much alike.

I think liberals beat the Fear Drums too sometimes. Most of that is aimed at making us worrying that the more (R)s are in office, the closer to fascism we will get. They warn us that voting for (R)s could mean roll-backs on rights and freedoms presently enjoyed by ppl of color, LGBT, women, non-Xtians, etc. There is some validity to those fears, but overall I think it is often exaggerated in order to get donations and to get ppl to go vote.

It absolutely is, but I think Trump and his supporters have created a new culture of facts meaning nothing. We all know that politicians in both parties lie, but none have lied so often as Trump. He has defined deviancy down. Obama's supporters didn't like when he lied, but they felt he was still more good than bad. Trump's supporters either don't care when he lies, or they think his lying is good because it gets things done. This new culture of truth not being important will lead us to Fascism, no question. Unless Trump is defeated and the people are shown that liars don't always win.

Telling a lie or exaggerating is a part of politics. Being a liar and telling lies as a language is something different. Trump speaks lie.

I was referring to your comment "It seems that there are very few true conservatives left any more in the (R) party. " Just wanted your take on what the differences were.

"Both political parties prey on fear" "roll-backs on rights and freedoms presently enjoyed by ppl of color, LGBT, women, non-Xtians, etc"

I guess I don't see it as fear when it's true. Telling the truth about what the racist right is going to do when in office isn't exactly equal to the racist right fear mongering…..

Lying on minorities by using fear is a completely different ballgame.

You are witnessing today what happens when republicans take office. That should alarm everyone. President Obama warned us what would happen if they took office......and he was spot on.

Looking at it from a different view, I just can't equate the two.

I wouldn't be on the left if I did not agree that although both sides do fear-mongering, ours has much more validity than theirs does.

To me a true conservative is one who is not interested in using the power of the govt. to enforce what some think of as morality. They tend to keep their religious views private. They are not apt to jump into bed with evangelists, nor to beat the drums of war. They abhor a police state. They try to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law. They do not make nice with our enemies in order to further their own agenda and cement their own power.

I think they are mostly extinct.

so what are libs?

Actually, the reason America has been moving to the Left is because people get more liberal as they mature.
But yeah, being educated does make people more liberal too. Conservatives tend to be uneducated and have a lower IQ.

How is America moving to the left? There is nothing "educated" about our college grads these days.
