A troubling thought for some.

the production of firefighting is owned and controlled by the state.
Fire supression is a product/industry. Surely you MBA types realize that?

Are individuals allowed to fight house fires on an independent basis?
Ie do we have any private competition for fire departments?

if firefighters or police officers are components of socialism, then any of us can be firefighters or police officers, right?

yes within the limits or job requirements. However it is an assinine argument if you are saying all of us can be firemen or policemen.

Nothing is produced in putting out a fire. Sorry. *shrug*

socialism requires fairness and equality in all things, does it not?
Yes, the option should be available to all.

I would not choose to be a fire fighter or police woman, but I know the option is there for me, if I pass tests required to be in these positions. I think qualifications come into play even in socialism. I wouldn't let someone not trained in brain surgery to operate on me.

we have always had a lil bit of socialism here in the US. But now with this administration it seems that we are moving twords Totalitarianism weather the people like or not.

I described that in my previous post. Quit being oblique.
I'm not "oblique" it is directly contrary to the definition of socialism. It is not a means of production. It isn't even government owned in my area. Most places have a conglomeration, but in most volunteer districts it is a Special District, actually called a "Fire Protection District", but you can call these whatever you want and they can do whatever you want.

Basically, you can create one to pave the roads of your sub-division if the government won't do it fast enough for you and you are willing to pay extra to get it done.

Phew! We were worried you already had...!

Shouldn't you be teaching the grandkids the fine art of knocking back a beer and smoking a doobie?
Shouldn't you not make this about my grandchildren, attack me, but don't say a word about them, you nasty bitch. Don't ever talk about my innocent babies!
