A troubling thought for some.

Oh, I cuss all the time! It is Tutu that has the virgin mouth or claims to in past lives! It is one of those old tired ongoing hate fests with her and I am palying into it today with two of the girls and the others will chime in when they make their appearances.

I know better than to engage them, but I needed to fight the unarmed today.
It is the mood I am in and I am only human and way too imperfect to stay away from them on certain days!

Faxes and E-mails have put a serious hurt on the USPS......but it's not about to fold. Cut backs, downsizing, but not fold. And as utility rates and the general economy continue to squeeze the general population, the USPS may well be the big boy on the block again, as people stop paying that monthly online service fee, or investors realize that less regular people are using FedEx.

They are not allowed to compete against the USPS. the USPS is an unnatural monopoly that has never had competition. When mail was the primary form of communication it did well, but now that there is 1/4 of the mail flowing and they still have to deliver to all 7 million mailboxes in NYC regardless of the decrease they aren't doing well at all with their monopoly.

Here's the major flaws in your statement:

  1. Fedex and UPS are an option for parcel delivery and SPECIAL overnight/same day delivery of letters.
  2. If there is an option, that is competition. Period.
  3. The USPS is not doing well for the reasons I stated....however, they are not abjectively failing across the board.

The USPS operates at a disadvantage. They must deliver letters and check every residences mailbox 6 days a week.
UPS and Fedex get to compete with the cream of the buisness, they could never compete if they had to deliver letters and check all the mailboxes like the USPS.

When did fire departments become the means of production? What exactly do they produce?

The definitions are not necessarily all lumped together...they show varying degrees of socialism, which is why they are broken down into parts.

#1 explains why Americas fire and police dept. are a version of socialism, and not a private enterprise in and of itself.

Excellent point!

if firefighters or police officers are components of socialism, then any of us can be firefighters or police officers, right?

IF you pass the written and physcial tests, psych evaluations, etc. Then you take the oath, get officially recognized by the STATE, and get set up with payroll and pensions.

That's what you, me and a whole lot of people pay TAXES for.....a little social service by professionals...not for every joker off the corner.

just worried about the state of our future, when the average liberal can't comprehend points.....

You talk a lot of BS, you postmodernfool, but you can't debate worth a damn when the facts are not in your favor.

Stop being a little wussy....if you lose, you lose. If you're wrong, you're wrong. No big deal here, it's just a discussion board.

So if you can't/won't discuss the subject thread....I'll just ignore your little slam fest dodge here. Carry on.

Dude, your big issue in life is defending a virus. WTF?!

we have always had a lil bit of socialism here in the US. But now with this administration it seems that we are moving twords Totalitarianism weather the people like or not.

Bob, making sure healthcare is available to ALL American citizens is NOT totalitarianism. Look up the definition of the word.

As far as I know they buy all their trucks and stuff from private companies, just like the police departments and military does. *shrug*

And who pays for the maintaining and operation of the fire dept. and police dept.? We do, you nit! Via our taxes...a communal resource regulated by state/federal. A little social service!
