A woman dodged a bullet after watching a man get shot and killed, Chamblee police said.



The shooting happened on Chamblee Dunwoody Road around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday.




A homeless man and woman were sitting in front of a business on the road when a gunman approached, police said.




The woman told police an argument broke out between the gunman and the other man, and the gunman threatened to shoot.






The gunman then shot the victim once in the forehead, and he died on the sidewalk, police said.




The woman said the man then turned the gun on her and attempted to shoot, but the gun malfunctioned. The woman fled the scene as the man tried to fix his gun, police said.




Police said they watched a recording of the shooting from a nearby business’ surveillance. They used the video and the witness’ statement to identify a suspect....

Police converged late Tuesday night at 277 Ripley Road, where a homeowner reported that someone had fired shots at her house.




The woman, her daughter and a friend heard what appeared to be a rifle shot at close range at about 9:30 p.m., and they initially thought a transformer on the utility pole had exploded, according to Sgt. Kevin Wintle.




Shortly after that first shot, however, the trio heard two more shots, again at close range, he said.

One person is close to death following a double shooting in Elizabeth this morning, authorities said.




Investigators believe both victims were in a car at the time of the shooting, which happened shortly before noon near the corner of Pine and Third streets in the city’s port section, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.




One victim is listed in “grave” condition this afternoon and the other is expected to survive...

A confrontation between two groups of men late Tuesday night left two people wounded, including a 22-year-old city woman who authorities say was an innocent bystander.




Sgt. Patrick Murray said an altercation between the groups near the corner of Governor and Carroll streets at about 11 pm resulted in numerous gunshots.




Police officers responding to the scene found the woman, an Auburn Street street resident, sitting in front of a house, bleeding from a gunshot that had gone through her right arm and hit her abdomen, Murray said.




Nearby on Harrison Street, officers also found a 35-year-old Presidential Boulevard resident with a wound to his lower right leg.




Authorities are not sure yet whether the man was involved in the fight, but they said the woman was not.

A 22-year-old Eaton Rapids man was found guilty today of duct-taping the snout of a 7-month-old female pit bull and shooting the dog in the head, officials said.




After a two-day trial in Eaton County Circuit Court, Paul Felice was found guilty of one felony count of killing an animal, officials said. Felice faces up to four years in prison.





The incident happened at the home of his then-girlfriend. He was home alone with the dog.





He took the dog out into a field, shot two rounds from a deer rifle...

A reward has been offered by a rural water district in Garvin County victimized by someone firing gunshots at one of its water towers.

The four-figure reward is being offered by Garvin County Rural Water District #1 as hopes are someone can provide information about the suspect who fired multiple shots at a tower located a few miles northeast of Pauls Valley.


The discovery came a couple of weeks ago when water was seen leaking from the 120-foot tall tower.


“We are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter,” Clint Morse said.

On the same day that two men were shot outside the Bailey Avenue entrance to the Fort Independence Houses, three more people were wounded in a separate shooting at 6:30 p.m. near the building’s Fort Independence Street entrance.




Police said two men and a woman, ages 17, 18 and 20, suffered bullet wounds to both the right and left legs.




The female victim was also hit in the right buttocks. All three were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital.




Bullets scarred windows and blood stained the Bailey Avenue entrance where two men were injured when gunshots rang out.




Police said Armando Rodriguez, 21, told them that he was entering his building at 3340 Bailey Ave. at around 2:10 a.m., when he heard a tire squeal.




Mr. Rodriguez told police that as he turned around, a man fired several shots from a dark-colored four-door sedan.




Three of the shots struck Mr. Rodriguez in the abdomen, right arm and left leg.




Hector Feliziano, 21, who was with Mr. Rodriguez, was hit in the right thigh, police said.




They said Mr. Rodriguez was rushed to New York Presbyterian....

State wildlife officers charged a North Port man this past weekend with the illegal taking and killing of an American alligator.





At about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, sheriff's deputies responded to calls about gunshots in the Myakka River Mobile Home Park in the 9000 block of the South Tamiami Trail in Venice.




Deputies told Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission investigators that Roger Lee Marshall, 42, shot a 7-foot-7-inch alligator once between the eyes with a .357 Magnum handgun.




Wildlife officials reported that Marshall was also issued a warning about use of a firearm while consuming alcohol.

A pit bull was shot early this morning after a 45-year-old Lansing man fought with an armed robbery suspect outside a Waverly Road warehouse.




Police were called to the 5200 block of S. Waverly Road at about 4:10 a.m. this morning in response to the incident, said Lt. Noel Garcia.




The victim told police he was approached by a man with a pistol while he was getting equipment from a trailer in the parking lot outside the warehouse, where he is working to set up a business.




The suspect pointed the pistol at the victim and took the man's cell phone and money, but the victim fought back, grabbing the suspect and fighting to get his property back, Garcia said.




The suspect lost hold of the pistol during the skirmish but was able to break free and retrieve it, Garcia said.




During the fight, the victim's pit bull ran from the warehouse to the trailer, where the victim commanded the dog to attack the suspect.




The suspect fired two shots at the dog, with one bullet hitting the dog....

A man was taken to a local hospital after being shot, and was pronounced dead, officials said.




The 34-year-old man was shot in the 2100 block of East 14th Street, officials said.




Paramedics did chest compressions before transporting him to a local hospital, said Press-Telegram photographer Stephen Carr.

A 21-year-old Salt Lake City man was shot in the chest while walking with his family near a neighborhood park.



The man, his wife and two children were heading home from Sherwood Park when the shooting occurred near 250 South and 1400 West.




The suspect’s car was described as a black colored Nissan or Infiniti. Police found several shell casings in the roadway.




The victim was taken to University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest...

A member of a well-known barbecue-making family in Darlington County has been found shot to death.


Authorities said Wednesday that 44-year-old Richard Gardner was found dead at his home, which was also known locally as Skeet's Bar-B-Q.

A man was injured in a shooting in Norfolk Wednesday afternoon.




The shooting was reported around 4:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Greenleaf Drive, Norfolk police spokesman Chris Amos said.




When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said he was awake, conscious, and alert on the scene.

Two shootings in the metro have police searching for the gunmen.




In Council Bluffs, Iowa, officers were called to an area near south 23rd Street and Third Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday for reports of shots fired.







That's where they found 41-year-old James Andrews with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.







Andrews was transported to the Nebraska Medical Center.




A few hours later, 23-year-old Tyvinn Smith was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds in both thighs.





That shooting happened at 44th and Jaynes streets in Omaha around 5 a.m.
