A 95-year-old neighbor intentionally rammed his SUV into an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer's home early Thursday morning, and the officer responded with gunfire.

Police said the officer and his wife were asleep when they heard several loud explosions as the SUV hit the front beam of their home and ran over their porch at 4:30 a.m. near 32nd Street and Shea.

The officer said he pulled out a gun and started shooting warning shots into the SUV, because the man kept ramming his car into the home, and he was not responding to the officer asking him to stop.

Police said the man is deaf.

Three people were in the home at the time -- the DPS officer, his wife and their son's girlfriend.
