About 20 minutes after midnight, officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived, a fight broke out.



The suspect in the suspicious vehicle hit two police officers at that location. One of the officers was dragged by the suspect's vehicle. That officer shot at the suspect. Both the officer that was dragged and the suspect were taken to the hospital.


The officer who shot the suspect suffered minor injuries.

Modesto police are investigating the shooting deaths of three people found early Saturday inside a home on the city's eastside, authorities said.



Police arrived at the home shortly before 4 a.m. to find three victims with fatal gunshot wounds, officials said.



Police said the victims, whose identities haven't been released, were a 16-year-old boy, a woman in her mid-20s and a man about 30 years old.

An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in East Oakland early Saturday morning, authorities said.


William A. Mejia, an Oakland resident, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Stoneford Avenue about 5:20 a.m., police said.


He was pronounced dead at the scene, officer Kevin McDonald said.

Sheriff’s detectives continued Sunday to attempt to find the person or people responsible for shooting a man and dumping his body into the Los Angeles River.


Authorities were alerted to the body about 10:20 a.m. Saturday.

Around 1 a.m., a 27-year-old Orange woman was found walking along Route 78 in Newark with a gunshot wound to the arm, said State Police Trooper Christopher Kay. She was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where she remained in stable condition.

A short time later, police responded to a report of a one-car crash on Vauxhall Road in Union, about a mile from the Garden State Parkway. The driver of the car had also been shot.

A 26-year-old man is dead and three others are injured from gunshot wounds from an incident at a Moreno Valley residence, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.


Moreno Valley police responded to call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon in the 14600 block of Rio Grande Drive around 8 p.m. Saturday.


Police discovered the deceased 26-year-old man, whose name has not been released, and the three other victims who were transported to local hospitals.

Appleton police are investigating a report of a gunshot fired by an unknown person.

It happened in the 1800 block of W. Summer St. early Sunday morning.

The incident was reported later in the day.

The round went through the back window of a vehicle parked in a driveway.

It exited the windshield of the vehicle, and then went through the wall of a detached garage.
