US citizens benefit from our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, not "any person on the planet". His bearing arms hasn't been shown to be illegal, has it?

It was in violation of the standing gun ban on campus. That gun ban is still in place.

I guess, since I exceeded the speed limit on I-20, I repealed the speed limit laws? So was my repeal a local phenomenon or is it statewide?

Is it?

Are you saying you have a Constitutional right to drive?

Are you saying that, because the gunman carried a gun onto campus he not only brought the 2nd amendment to campus, but that he repealed the ban completely and for everyone?

I made no such claim. But the gun ban on the campus was not a constitutional right either. But teh gunman repealed it simply by breaking it.

no one cares about 7 people dying. why is this so hard for you to understand? their deaths are negligible vs. the importance of the second amendment. 30-40,000 people die in car crashes each year in the united states ALONE. we could save 40,000 lives each year if we banned cars, but that's not going to happen. we've determined that 40,000 deaths is still worth it to have our vehicles.

and these 7 kids dying is still worth it to have the 2nd amendment.

There is almost no number you are going to be able to show me that would make me wince at the 2nd amendment. wont happen. gun rights are here to stay, so deal with it, bitch.
But you don't even own a gun.

\\\legion/// claims he is not anti-gun

I have a question. If one has the constitutional right to bear arms how can any place be declared a gun-free zone? Is it left up to the private individuals to decide such as those who own schools and bars? If so, are bars and shopping malls really private places as opposed to public places?

Are towns/cities allowed to be declared gun-free zones? If so, then having a constitutional right to something doesn't mean much.

you're catching on. the 'right to bear arms shall not be infringed' should mean something. But gov entities have created gun free zones because it could only be 'common sense' to make gov buildings or 1000' around schools 'gun free zones', because everyone knows that a sign will keep people from using guns in 'gun free zone's. nobody has been able to adequately explain how school shootings happen though.

the fact that a majority of idiots don't comprehend rights allows the government to infringe on them though.

Merged. Since you chose not to distinguish this thread from your other thread about shootings, I cannot see a difference in them.

Macomb Township Fire Chief Roberts Phillips said he believes it was the accidental firing of a pistol that resulted in a house fire Sunday in the 48000 block of Daisy Drive.

Phillips said investigators have ruled that the fire, which started around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, started when a pistol wrapped in newspaper accidentally discharged, catching the newspaper on fire.

The pistol and newspaper were then dropped to the floor where the carpet caught on fire, Phillips said.

So what about shopping malls. Are they considered public places or privately owned places? Does the owner of a mall have the right to prohibit guns?

back before gun free zones were 'great ideas', malls and stores were considered places open to the public, therefore a carried gun wasn't considered anything different than a pair of shoes or a hat. lately though, 'private' property seems to be anything not owned, handled, or controlled by the government. It should be considered a wholly public place, especially considering the so called arguments about governments being able to ban smoking in restaurants and bars since they are designated 'public' places.
