A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1700 block of Raven Drive in the Birdville community late Monday afternoon, according to Mobile police.

Officers responding to a 1:30 a.m. report of shots fired at a home on Walden Walk Circle found Atima Smith, 36, suffering from a gunshot wound, DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.



Smith was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

Hempstead Police responded to a call for shots fired in the vicinity of Ingraham Street and Peters Avenue.


It was determined that the male victim had been shot.


The victim was pronounced at the scene.

A man apparently was shot by his daughter in the southwest valley.


Las Vegas police said a 5½-year-old girl shot her father about 8 a.m. at a home at 182 Castle Course, near Fort Apache and Blue Diamond roads in the Rhodes Ranch development.


The girl was sleeping with her parents when she took a handgun from a nightstand and apparently shot her father...

A Maryland high school's first day of class devolved into chaos Monday after a teenager brought a gun onto campus and opened fire on another student, authorities say.


The victim was in critical condition Monday at a nearby hospital, but the injuries could have been far greater were it not for the swift actions of a guidance counselor and a teacher.


Witnesses told the Baltimore Sun that the pair grabbed the gunman in a bear hug and pinned him against a vending machine to keep him from injuring anyone else.


Police sources described the suspect as a 15-year-old.


A local TV news report said the victim was a 17-year-old and that he had been shot in the back.


The incident received widespread media attention, as the nation continues to be on edge over gun violence in the wake of other recent high-profile shootings...

Galesburg Police got the call that shots were being fired at a house on Mulberry Street.


When they arrived 38 year old Terrell Allen was dead on a driveway.


The home's owner, Ricky Wilder, was home at the time watching T.V. Wilder first thought it was fireworks, but quickly realized his home had been hit by bullets.
