Disturbed people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he'll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN's article says that if the body count "holds up", this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox News has plastered the killer's face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer's identity? None that I've seen yet. Because they don't sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you've just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man's name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news."

Freeman’s words give pause for thought and reflection. I pose this question to the reader: What do you think? Are people seeking attention and notoriety because of the way the media portrays them? People who commit suicide often feel like they are alone and a nobody. In this case did Lanza decide he wanted to go down in history books by making his name synonymous with monstrosity?"

To the OP, people should remember these names instead of the one name the media uses to exploit.

Shucks. Such sentimentality. Too bad it rings hollow coming from gun nuts proclaiming 2nd Amendment rights trump these victims' right to live.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — Nancy Lanza loved guns, and often took her sons to one of the shooting ranges here in the suburbs northeast of New York City, where there is an active community of gun enthusiasts, her friends said. At a local bar, she sometimes talked about her gun collection.




It was one of her guns that was apparently used to take her life on Friday. Her killer was her son Adam Lanza, 20, who then drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he killed 26 more people, 20 of them small children, before shooting himself, the authorities said.

Im saying her worship of guns had alot to do with passing that worship onto her son who then used that worship to kill children.

So if you teach your child to drive, which includes acceleration, steering, braking, etc, and he then uses the car to mow down some pedestrians; it's your fault because you taught him how to drive effectively?

the right might worship guns, but real Americans know that guns are power. the left knows it too, or they wouldn't clamor to remove them from those they want to control and give more to those doing the controlling.

You're mischaracterizing the left, as wanting limits on guns for some kind of "power grab."

Most on the left just hate stuff like what just happened, and feel less & less safe as the so-called "gun culture" continues to grow.
