I don't recall about housekeeping. I thought he was a nurse who worked mostly with pulmonary patients.

My bad, apparently it was with surgical patients.

He talked about cleaning the OR

He definitely said he took early retirement. IIRC his job was going to be eliminated.

Someone said he was a surgical tech, which sounds right. Since they quit doing all but emergency surgeries during the pandemic, he got laid off because of that. His job would have been to get the OR and all the instruments prepared and laid out, possibly assist with that during the operation, and clean up the theater afterwards. If they're not doing surgeries he's out of the job.

Seriously. Not trying to insult someone who is probably dead or incapacitated, but he was stupid. A surgical tech? In what country?

It's an actual position requiring a degree and certification. If you're having invasive surgery, your life could depend on him/her doing their job correctly.
