There’s a reason this liberal economist columnist for the WaPo wrote the piece she did. There’s a reason Obama’s lead economist spoke out against this. It’s because price controls don’t work.

And honestly, I’m sure Harris and her team know this. But it’s election season and this is what all politicians do, especially populists. I’m sure behind closed door they’re saying enough Americans have so little understanding of economics that they will buy this, thus it makes good political sense to go this route. We have an oligopoly which results in corporations determining everything. Owner paints a picture of an entrepreneur. Those days are long gone. We have almost all markets controlled by a few corporations and banks.

I love the nickname I heard for her, Kamala Nixon. If you recall he got high approval ratings for implementing price controls (going back to the public and their understanding of economics - or lack thereof) but of course they were shown to be a failure and they had to stop them.

And because Nixon was a Republican it helps show its bad economics, not simply a partisan thing, when speaking out against price controls.
