Great atheists on the meaning & purpose of life

except for the people they felt free to genocide.

great religion you have there.
The Bronze Age was a violent world. The literature of the Bronze Age reflects that. Trying to impose your 21st century standards of leisure and sloth to ancient times is just the absolute worst way to do historical and cultural analysis.

but you're lying.

It's a religion of tribalism and genocide.

but that's what you want. you're a mass murderer.

Karl Marx: Self fulfillment and meaning is achieved through the free exercise of an individual's creative powers through their labor and creations.

Frederich Nietzsche: Meaning and purpose are achieved by the rejection of the saintly values of Christianity and the pursuit of the heroic life of self mastery and self discovery embodied by the Homeric values of the ancient Greeks.

Arthur Schopenhauer: Self fulfillment is achieved by the immersion into aesthetic beauty, music, art.
The left in America certainly doesnt agree with Marx here.

Nietzsche clearly has no accurate understanding of Christianity and specifically Catholicism as self mastery is the path to sanctification. These folks hate religion because it competes with the govt for peoples loyalties. The self mastery comment is smome.and mirrors.

It appears this last guy was too busy with the laundry to really think about this.

his summaries are inaccurate, pay them no mind.

Clearly the socialist European left in the 19th tended to agree with Marx. They certainly agreed that mind numbing monotonous 12 hour shifts doing repetitive tasks for a pittance wage alienated them from the freedom to use their labor and creative energies to do something more fulfilling with life.

and they hate religion because they are criminally oriented and don't like to feel guilty about murder and fraud..

If they did it wasnt because they cared about freedom or "creative energies" it was purely economic.

"Sartre believe that human existence is the result of chance or accident. There is no meaning or purpose of his life other than what his freedom creates , therefore, he must rely on his own resources."

Sartre seems to believe in a kind of ultimate freedom where we are free to make choices and choose our future based on individual experience completely independent of convention, expectation, or cultural coercion.

There is no logic to the claim that economic justice has nothing to do with freedom.
I never made that claim. I said freedom wasn't the reason for Marx opinion economics was. He imagined workers were not getting their "fair share", I doubt he cared much about their freedom.

Right, just ask a homeless person if economics has absolutely nothing, nada, zilch to do with personal freedom

Marx, like all important thinkers, most definitely thought both about the problem (exploitation) and the reason and goal for solving that problem (freedom to use your own labor in productive, creative, and personally fulfilling ways)

Again I didnt make that claim but saying it seems to make you feel better and thats.reslly all that matters isn't it?

Too bad the left in America punishes such things.
