HAHAHA. Caitlin Clark joins the WNBA. Will make measly $76,000 a year.

Soccer has never caught on america and i don't think it ever will. Americans admire size and strength and soccer players are shrimps. Messi is only 5 7.

same goes for female sports. We want to watch people do things we individually can't do - so female sports has never been the avenue for such a spectacle

Soccer has caught on in a huge way in America--as a club or school or recreational or youth sport.

It hasn't caught on as sports entertainment.
It can't compete with hitting a 95 mph fastball 440 feet.
It can't compete with a seven minute, 80 yard sustained drive.
It can't compete with killing a five on four power play for two minutes to save a win.

She's a great player, and the influx of her & other college stars this year will greatly increase the WNBA's popularity. As evidenced by the huge increase in ratings for the NCAA women this year.

This is a very odd thread, and seems misogynistic.

She is a great player a great woman player. When the WNBA earn as much as the NBA then shen an demand more. Until then the NBA continues to subsidize the women.

Sports leagues like the WNBA give women a chance to play.
They don't make serious [if any] money, so that can't pay serious money.

Except for tennis and golf and maybe MMA, very few people pay to watch women's pro sports.
The fact that these leagues exist is fortunate for those who want to play
and not something that those of us who don't care to watch
need to disparage.

TDAK is a racist and a misogynist who vents on the internet.
He doesn't care how stupid he looks doing it, obviously.
He gets it off his chest and feels better.
Isn't that really why we're here?

Again this poster voluntarily participated in a sport where his face was repeatedly punched. The effects are clear.

, Clark, the No. 1 pick by the Indiana Fever in Wednesday's WNBA Draft, sold more jerseys on her draft day alone than every player on the Cowboys roster combined did last year.”

Go Caitlin

Good. Now tell us why she is entitled to a dollar more when playing in a league subsidized by the NBA.

The athletes and owners share the pie baked by the fans.

If the fans of female sports bake a much smaller pie, that's what the owners and players get to share.

I don't see where misogyny fits into the picture.

People pay for the entertainment that entertains them.

They'll pay a bundle to watch Taylor Swift, who also appears to be a broad.
Caitlin Clark, not so much.

The human punching bag has a point. When Tom Brady was married to that model she made a ton more money that he did and she also appears to be a broad. So misogyny can't be the cause.
