I often wonder when someone identifies as 'conservative' what they mean? I am probably more conservative than most American right wing conservatives who seem more fascist or nationalist. Sometimes I think we need another word?
Defining characteristics of an American right wing conservative: "I hate liberals, progressives, socialists, Hillary, Obama, minorities, immigrants, welfare, unions, elites, east coast / west coast, Muslims, democrats, and public education, not necessarily in that order or with equal intensity. I do love guns and God and tall walls, and I love rallies too as I can yell, hold up signs, and express myself there."

That is why I seldom use "conservatives" when discussing these issues...and use "American conservatives" instead.
The people now commonly known as American conservatives range from disgusting to very, very disgusting. Most conservatives of not too many years back would be as disgusted with them as I am.
