Nixon and Kennedy tried to get healthcare bill in the 1970s

The Frank Luntz talking points memo parroted by Republican legislators REP. JOHN BOEHNER, SEN. MITCH MCCONNELL, SEN. JON KYL, REP. JOE WILSON, REP. TOM PRICE, REP. ZACH WAMP
You really want me to swallow Bill Moyers and Michael Moore in some left-wing propaganda..?

If I ask you to watch a bit Glenn Beck and Hannity you would have a freakin' fit of hysterical laughter....

Having babies in the UK is free?...its just nonsense....You want me to believe that everyone that works there, don't get paid....all the equipment just appears by magic, the sheets and laundry is done by the Keebler elves?
Are you totally naive....

Can their nurses go on strike and have a union like Americans can?
Can their doctors just go into private practice?
How about the sweepers and laundry workers, are they unionized?
What rights do they have ?

A doctor in the UK can expect about a basic starting salary is £22,412 ($36,450). This increases in Foundation Year 2 to £27,798 ($42,200). For a doctor in specialist training the basic starting salary is £29,705 ($48,000).
And their tax rates are out of sight, income tax and VAT....
You wanna try that here ?
Walmart pays better.

I don't recall any repub pols talking about Nixon's attempt at health care, and the possibility of studying it as a model. It was all about repubs do not want health care, period.

Oh,,, those terrible repeubicans.

Knowing them like I do, they don't want to get rid of h/c. This is a real gem for them.

With this they can justify; (because of tax payer money) tests to see if you smoke, eat to many happy meals, tests to see if you're "pregnant" in case you have an abortion and there's no account of their, (sorry) your child, your medication, if you drink alcohol, manipulating a doctors decision, piss test you for what they deem unlawful drugs, food, etc,,,,,,,,, at your expense, and on and on and on.

I see all the future gains in prison stocks coming, and worthy for review..

So.... No one answered about the color of the cow? I was totally serious, I would like to know that!! Because, I don't buy that Liberals would have just accepted such a mandate from George W. Bush for one second. The ACLU would have filed an immediate lawsuit, Jesse Jackson would be marching, San Fransisco would be burning to the ground... and cows would be getting birthed across the country! I just wonder what color they would be?

If ANY Republican had mandated that everyone purchase health care insurance, there would have been absolute pandemonium in the streets. Yet, Obama gets his Congress to put it in a 2,200 page bill, and call it "Health Care Reform" and pinheads are ecstatic!

Why are you changing the subject? Micheal Moore was not the topic.

The topic was former Bush speechwriter David Frum telling the truth about Republicans in Washington making a collective decision in the beginning of the health care debate that they 'would make no deal with the administration. No negotiations, no compromise, nothing. They were going for all the marbles. This would be Obama’s Waterloo'. I said that the Republicans used lies to scare the American people using talking points from GOP strategist Frank Luntz and the video proves that.

If you don't want to watch the Bill Moyers interview with Wendell Potter, a 15 year executive who was head of Public Relations at CIGNA, one of the largest health insurance corporations in America, then why don't you watch Potter's sworn testimony before Congress?

Ignorance is not an argument, it is an affliction.

Seeing as you asked.

Can their nurses go on strike and have a union like Americans can?
Yes, they can. There has never been a national nurses strike but that isn't because they are prevented by law from initiating one, rather that they take patient care seriously.

Can their doctors just go into private practice?
Yes, they can. Many NHS doctors also work in the private sector part time and many private sector doctors are contracted to carry out NHS work. Most General Practitioners (family doctors) are self employed and contracted to Primary Care Trusts individually or as part of a partnership. They do have the option of setting up on their own (you may have heard of Harley Street doctors charging huge prices).

How about the sweepers and laundry workers, are they unionized?
What rights do they have ?
If they want to join a union they are permitted to do so and they have the rights any other worker in the UK is entitled to expect.

A doctor in the UK can expect about a basic starting salary is £22,412 ($36,450). This increases in Foundation Year 2 to £27,798 ($42,200). For a doctor in specialist training the basic starting salary is £29,705 ($48,000).

After a short training period i'm guessing walmart doesn't offer the real possibility of a lifetime of pay slips reading six figures though.

Yes, they actually do. Through the Accelerator Management Program, an enterprising Wal-Mart associate can become a Store Manager in 18-months or less, and a Regional Manager in less than 2 years. Regional Managers make $105k per year.

OK, Dix.

It's still small change compared to the earnings of a doctor in the UK.

"but government run h/c is socialism..."

Tell it to the military.

Make those people who would die for this country also pay for their own surgeries and medicines, just like the rest of us schmucks. </sarcasm>
Yea and seniors too. The overwhelming majority of seniors opposed HC reform. If the truly aren't hypocrites everyone of them should burn their medicare cards!

Any universal system is going to require that you essentially mandate health care insurance for it to work properly. Going the mandate route just means the least change from the current system is required, which is why it was apparently preferred.

I imagine you'll get the same shit you currently get from your current insurer, because it'll be the same one.

Besides, in countries where they have actually socialized portions of their healthcare system none of that has happened.

not sure what dim witted tom's point is...but government run h/c is socialism

It's not really socialism unless the point of it is to redistribute the surplus profits of the organization to the proletariat. In most countries, at least the payer level is run by the government because it's one thing the government simply does better than private companies.

There was NEVER an attempt at reform
There was NEVER an attempt at debate

The Democrats wrote and passed exactly what they wanted from those Nixon/Kennedy days on the 70's......A Socialist, single payer, government takeover of the entire industry.

Again, the current healthcare bill is to the right of Nixon's reform, and way to the right of any single payer system.

The average business almost ALWAYS provides some kind of employee benefits....the form those benefits take varies, as anyone, even most pinheads would know.

I didn't claim ALL benefits of ALL companies are identical, pinhead...and you know it....benefits from Company A are the same as from Company B no matter what form they take.....they are ALL CALLED BENEFITS....
At a diner it might be free dinners and at a car wash it might be a free weekly car wash....THEY ARE ALL BENEFITS, nevertheless....

\Can't you help being a fuckin' pinhead, or what....?:palm:

Try to keep up here, although I know it's tough, given your limited capabilities.

You said: "The troops are employees of the government and whatever wages and benefits they get are no different than those you might get from working for Microsoft or BP Oil or anywhere...."

I answered: "Oh, really? That's funny, I've never had an employer benefit me with housing and subsistence, clothing, health care, education benefits, travel, etc."

You distinctly said their benefits, etc. are NO DIFFERENT than those given in the private sector. I said they certainly were different, because the private sector doesn't pay either fully or partially for all expenses related to day-to-day living. It was a question of degree, and the government takes care of the military to a greater degree than the private sector does its employees.

I can't figure out if you're deliberately misunderstanding my posts in order to push your agenda, or if you're just that willfully ignorant.

Please watch this video starting at 4:40 to 8:12.

I know it is way too much to ask one of you 'conservatives' to watch a whole interview with a former insurance company executive with 15 years experience. It would be an epiphany.

http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/07102009/profile.html

That is just priceless. We always joke here that so-and-so must have gotten their talking points memo from whomever, and there really is a memo!

Maybe, but we're talking about the republicans. Lord only knows what they will try to get away with.
