Diversity Makes Greatness
Nobody can stop a pandemic on their own, but they can protect themselves.
If everyone were to take all possible measures to simply protect themselves, the pandemic would be stopped.
Our society consists of responsible people and irresponsible people.
Responsible people are thinking about how what they do affects others.
Irresponsible people only think of themselves. And all too often, they do not even think of their own long-term concerns.
Smokers live for the day, live for the moment. They accept that they will likely not live as long as non-smokers.
Bar-flies are often smokers. They just want to get through the day so they can go drink and joke around with other irresponsible people every evening.
Many of them are functional alcoholics. If they can make it through the day on the job, then they can go drink and party in the evening.
The problem here is they don't want to be responsible.
Mask-wearing and distancing are responsible, so they don't want to do that. They are willing to take their chances with the pandemic, and they don't care if they get the disease, maybe or maybe not have symptoms, but they spread the disease to others who may die. They just don't care.
Another huge factor in mask-wearing is that you smell your own breath. I bet a lot of people have changed their habits to be more attentive to dental hygiene in order to be able to wear a mask when needed.
But what about smokers?
Can you imagine being a smoker and trying to wear a mask?
That must be quite unpleasant.
This only further exacerbates the challenge for a bar-fly to be responsible.
It just represents another reason why bar-flies would not want to be responsible in the pandemic.
Responsible governors would have capacity limits in place for bars.
Bar owners and servers should be compensated by the State for loss of business.
Tax the super-rich more to pay for it.
Have you seen some of the increases in wealth during the pandemic?
What goes around comes around. Except the wealth of the super-rich.
