The only part of the country that would be standing in 10 years would be the northeast and the California part. They would be booming beyond belief and would be the greatest economic powerhouses the world had ever known.

WaterMark, the subject of this little flight of fancy is the breakup of the United States into several smaller nations.

The southeastern US would form a nation, and would be quite capable of surviving and thriving.

The northeast would be hardpressed to manage to feed their people, to say nothing of the lack of energy resources.

The southeast would collapse and would be a third world nation within months. They'd bring back slavery to pay off their debts and experience a series of revolutions. The economic prosperity the north has bought them to this point would be gone and people would starve by the millions as they were left to the market, while abortion would be banned, gays would be imprisoned, and more people would start being executed than any society in history, and their lax gun laws would cause crime to go through the roof. It would be an unprecedented bloodbath that I would be quite ready to get out of.

To imagine an independent southeast, just picture Saudi Arabia, and replace the Muslim imagery with Christian imagery, and subtract the oil wealth.

The northeast is the economic powerhouse of the nation because of their sensible economic regulations. They have all the states with the highest GDP per capita, while the south has all the ones with the lowest. An independent southeast would be a wasteland.

WE have industry, agriculture, and the oil to be frilled off the coast of FL.
