Should prostitution be legal?

i think so. tho i don't know why you would want to pay for sex with a woman who has been with thousands of other guys.

Legalising it doesn't mean there's be more whores, just that they won't get arrested for it.

Okay, slogan - "mo' ho's, less orange jumpsuits!"

Oh well, small wonder I never worked in advertising.

Okay moralisers, come and get some, I'm ready, slap me with yer Bible and watch the welts on my skin as my unholiness erupts! :clink:

I guess you might be right. There is no way that legalizing prostitution will make it more prevalent.

It is legal in most every European country. It is NOT more prevelent and lately the Dam has closed down part of the red light district. All the women are subject to health codes and there are no pimps. If you want to see the epitome of a brothel watch HBO and the show about the Bunny Ranch. None of those women are victimized, they make great money and they aren't subject to the abuses and dangers that women who work the streets are subject too. Hell yes it sould be legal.

The prohibition of prostitution is just one of those things in the past people did to make themselves feel good about themselves. Some saw the women, and saw that the conditions were terrible, and thought certainly if they'd ban it it would all go away. And here we are today, with prostitutes in worse conditions than they've almost ever been before. The same goes with all kinds of "How can it hurt, let's regulate" legislation. The "common sense" of a few old men is the serious detriment of millions.

It does bring about a particular question. If prostitution became legal, how is this going to be received during Career Day at high schools? If it is legal, would a principle be able to prevent a representative from the Bunny Ranch from speaking to students about the career opportunities as a sex worker?

yes and taxed, regulated and licensed...like any other business

while we are at it, how about legalizing drugs and gambling...for adults that is :clink:

Prostitution has traditionally been ran out because it creates competition for marriage.
Kinda hard to use the old none for you control thing if they can just go rent some.
