So.. If the Media is really "conservative"...

in july in afghanistan we had the worst US soldier deaths for approx a year....it made news for one day....the dems....silent

Exactly. It made news for a day.

When did previous reports like this go on for days?

As for Dems being silent, you probably haven't read too many of BAC's posts.

Haha, sorry for saying this but I can see BAC's response now if he were on here, "I'm NOT a Democrat!"

I don't know if that points to conservative media. I think it points more to is false outrage from the liberals. They hated the war under Bush, they can't be bothered under Obama cause now their false outrage is geared at healthcare.

as the leftists would tell us, 'we have more serious issues to deal with like healthcare and the economy. we'll get to the war afterwards'.

That's very true.

I guess the point is that there is spirited debate & disagreement on the left about the wars - both on here, and nationally.

There are huge portions of the left who oppose Obama on his actions so far, and on the fact that he has not withdrawn troops. They have been quite vocal about it, also.

is this covered in the media as much as under bush? is the negative view of war and the causulties covered as much? it sure doesn't look that way to me.

quite frequently...espcially on yahoo!....wow...one whole person and the dems are not silent....and correct me if i am wrong...BAC doesn't consider himself a socialist

You guys stretch & distort too much to try to scrape for double-standards.

I'm not saying they don't exist in certain segments of the media. But the last half of 2008 - as has been discussed here - saw almost no major media coverage of either war, or of casualties.

It's called war fatigue; the media has it.

I think you'll find that the Dems who railed against the war and who would highlight casualties often - i.e. Kucinich - still do.

its called election and now bush isn't in office so we don't want to report on anything negative over there, at least not to much, just a wee bit, but we can back off on it like bush....

the media was doing this right up to a couple of months before the election, then that took over and in reality, the situation in afghanistan and iraq had mellowed out....now, in july afghanistan had the highest casualites in about a year and it barely gets mentioned....

this is just my observation, not fact, so don't think i am passing this off as fact

as the leftists would tell us, 'we have more serious issues to deal with like healthcare and the economy. we'll get to the war afterwards'.

And if healthcare were to fail again and Obama loses, they will turn their false outrage somewhere else yet again.:clink:

We disagree. The media coverage about Iraq & Afghanistan in the last half of 2008 was almost non-existent, much to the chagrin of many in the anti-war movement. Casualty counts were hard to find.

There was no magical cutoff point. The media got war fatigue; they simply don't report it much anymore. As you admitted, they reported the Afghanistan tally, much as they would have in 2008 - a 1 day story.

You guys definitely exaggerate.

And many Dems are at odds with Obama on the wars. Even Reid & Pelosi came out publicly against his plan to leave more troops in Iraq.

yeah and you guys never exaggerate

Unfortuantely as selfish Americans this is true for many of us on both sides of the fence.

I expressed my displeasure at Obama not working for a more speedy withdrawl fo our boys from Iraq and Afganistan. I am not pleased at all with him in that area.

At least we do now have a withdrawl date from Iraq, that is better than the indefinite response McCain had.
I do feel that as far as the wars are concerned Obama was a slightly less bad choice than McCain and bezerko bible thumping Palin.

Why do you laugh about that?

Bush did lie about the intel, and he cherrypicked to buid a case for war. That is indisputable at this point.

And I don't excuse Dems who voted for that resolution...

Actually, it was acting, President Cheney, remember.

Where are the constant War Protester stories? They are still out there, they are still protesting... but they are no longer being covered.

I still protest the war in my emails to the WH. I haven't changed anything.

You know this is pretty strange. Bush war supporters protesting a non protest on the wars.
I am not sure what to call it might have to invent another word.
