The God Equation

The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.
Nikola Tesla
The debate is that math is too dominant in physics. Researchers are complaining that mathematicians are getting all the funding. You don't have to know how to read music to play guitar. Creativity and imagination allows people to find the natural chord progression.

There's a new idea that black holes could actually be dark matter. That would change how physicists imagine gravity. That's why those who think they are close to figuring out the universe get laughed at.

What debate?

There are many debates

This is just one debate

So it isn’t THE debate

My one nit pick is the boldness of calling it string theory.

It cannot be experimentally tested at this point, so it technically does not reach the threshold of a theory.

At this time, it is more of a creative idea supported by some elegant mathematics.

I might also quibble with calling it the "god equation" as well. Never liked the references to the Higgs boson as "the God particle," either.

What a beautifully-written piece. Thank you, Cypress.

I appreciate it.
And I agree with you. God particle was an unfortunate term used by a couple physicists, which I think may have had the goal of securing particle accelerator funding.

Dr. K. may genuinely believe in a Spinoza-esque god of nature, but we live in a capitalist society and I am sure the publishers thought The God Equation was a great title to sell books.

It’s about explaining the beginning and those ideas of one great individual needed to control it all

Devine intelligence

With this solved we see the face of god

And he is a matrix of strings that “souls” renders themselves into a living plane though sound and vibration

I love string theory

Basically we have the ultimate power as “souls” all though beautiful music

When I listen to music that entices my “soul” to joy I feel so connected to everything

It “rings” so very true to me

And Aretha was a true Queen of soul

How appropriate

Michio Kaku believes in God, if not that God

It’s been said that string theory physicist Michio Kaku believes in God, but the truth is it depends on what “God” means.

Actually, I suspect it depends more on what "believes in" means.

Actually, I suspect it depends more on what "believes in" means.

Good point. Far to many people limit the concept of god to what they think they understand about the Abrahamistic faith traditions.

Not many people are asking what it actually means to believe in god, a higher truth, a first principle, et al.

To me, the one bright red dividing line is between strict materialism (aka, there is nothing out there but quarks and leptons) of the kind practiced by Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, --- and those who hold to a belief in a higher reality, an ultimate truth, a first principle, etc.

Spirit in the Dark
Song by B.B. King and Diane Schuur
Spirit In The Dark

Are you getting the spirit in the dark
Are you getting the spirit in the dark
People moving, ah, tell me we're grooving
Just getting the spirit in the dark
Tell me, sisters, how do you feel
Tell me, my brothers, my brothers
How do you feel
(Do you feel like dancing)
Get up there and let's start dancing
(Get up and let's start dancing)
Start getting in the spirit
Oh, getting in the dark
(Spirit in the dark)
Just like sally walker
Sitting in a saucer
That's how you do it
Just go on, get on up to it
Ride, sally, ride
Put your hands on your hips
Cover your eyes, and move
(Come on get it)
Get in the spirit
(Move with the spirit)
Come on and move, get in the spirit
(Darling, move, move with the spirit)
Oh move, get in the spirit
Help me move
(Move)
With the spirit
(Spirit)
Are you getting the spirit
(Spirit in the dark)
I wanna know, are you getting the spirit
(Getting the spirit)
Getting it in the spirit
Are you getting the spirit
(Getting the spirit)
Keep moving
Oh hey, we're rocking and grooving
Just getting in the spirit
(Getting the spirit)
Oh in the dark
We're gonna do it one more time
It's just like sally walker
Sitting in that great big flying saucer
Hey, that's how you do it
Get down and get on up to it
(Come on and get it)
Ride, sally, ride
Put your hands on your hips
Cover your eyes, and move
(Move, move on)
Move with the spirit
I'm telling you to groove
(Groove on)
Groove with the spirit
(On and on)
Go on and move
(Move)
With the spirit
(Spirit)
Come on and groove
(Move it)
Groove with the spirit
(Move on)
On and on
(Yeah)
Help me, help me, help me
Help me move, move, move, move
Move, move, move, move
Move, move, move, move
Move, move, move, move
Give it up, give it up
Give it up, give it up
Give it up, give it up
Give it up, give it up
(You got it, you got it)
(You got the spirit)
Spirit
Feel it
I feel it, baby.
You know what i mean, baby?
Yes, i do.
Oh baby. you gotta feel the motivation.
I feel it, honey, i feel it.
Feel the spirit
In the dark
Get ready

If God is everything that exists

It’s easy to believe in god

I just have a problem with the expression, "believe in."

If a person who says, "I believe in GOD" actually means, "I cannot know if a GOD exists or not, but my guess (opinion, supposition) is that one does"...

...why not say that?

I suspect the reason people who say, "I believe in GOD" use that term rather than the more truthful and accurate "I guess that GOD (whatever that means) exists", is because they want to demand a greater respect for their guess than it deserves.

It is much easier to say, "We ought to all be respectful of each other's beliefs" than "We ought to all be respectful of each others guesses."

Just a note about the song

Sally Walker (Sally Waters) is an old old children’s game of European roots

An old tradition of a bride stepping over a saucer full of water before she marries

Sally ends up sitting in the saucers stead of stepping over it

And is sad because it bodes badly on her future

She is compelled to stand up and rejoice and find the one she loves best

A child’s game of a circle of players and “a Sally” sitting in the Middle

The circle sings the song and claps

She follows the circles commands to stand

Then dance (the other children copy her dance moves)

Then she moves to the east (her right) then to the west (her left) as the lyrics suggest

Then she stops in front of someone when the lyrics command her to stop in front of the one she loves best

That person is the new Sally

Don’t sit are mourn bad situations

Move on and seek love

Beautiful

Some are even telling you the truth

Unfortunately some are lying

Like some are lying about believing in this nations constitution
