The Palin Chronicles

The fun begins.

“NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin's shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin, McCain's top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family — clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent ‘tens of thousands’ more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide … said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.”

— “McCain himself rarely spoke to Palin during the campaign, and aides kept him in the dark about the details of her spending on clothes because they were sure he would be offended. Palin asked to speak along with McCain at his Arizona concession speech Tuesday night, but campaign strategist Steve Schmidt vetoed the request.”

The next few weeks will be interesting, and I don't expect they will be good for Palin. I think you nailed it before - the intellectuals of the GOP are going to squash this "movement" before it has a chance to gain any renewed traction, and make sure she is not viable in '12.

Which is kind of a shame, since she'd be a disaster as the head of the ticket...

Which intellectuals? There aren't too many left.

Thats what we said about Bush. She is dangerous, she is the second coming of Bush in female form.

I have already heard lots of talk about her taking Stevens seat in the Senate to use as a spring board to 2012.

What if she wins like Bush did...

No, they've had their day, that sort Jarod. That was yesterday.

You see this because of the electorate. Hispanic, the youth vote, they're not going to go with that. This is tomorrow, and for the r party to compete they will have to completely drop their racial politics, and they will have to stop nominating right wing christian fanatics.

Didn't someone on this forum talk about how wonderful she was, that she was going to win the election for McCain and that she is just what we need?

Hmmm......now who could that have been?

I heard them saying just the opposit this mornign on the radio. They claim the reason McCain lost was because he is not a real conservative. They ment he was not a radical religous nut.

My favorite phrasing was "You have no idea what's about to happen, do you?"

I'm really trying to resist the temptation to gloat, in the spirit of unity that Obama started w/ his speech last night, but it's tough w/ some people...

Well the republicans nominated him.

Considering the slanderous nonsense he spouted about Obama, and the ridiculous claims he made about Palin, a little gloating is in order.

I feel justified in gloating now. Obama won't be sworn in until January.
