It's largely conspiracy paradoelia but the OP still has a good point. America's REAL religion is MAMMON. We worship it with all our hearts and all our souls. We will do whatever we need to do to justify our love of obtaining more money. Even if we have to crawl over the decimated bodies of those who would keep us from getting even more sweeeeet $$$$$.

This is sort of true. America is still the most "religious" country in the Developed world and the majority identify as "Christian" of some form or another. Yet we are also the richest nation on earth (Remember what the Bible says about the rich man and a camel). We have among the least decent social safety net and welfare is considered a way to shame and denigrate the poor. We would collectively rather watch people die in the streets than consider making healthcare a right. We LOVE the gun...remember what the Bible tells us about those who live by the sword. Well that's us.
In many, many ways our worship of Mammon, our apparent indifference to our fellow man and our general attitude would make one think that as a nation we are about as far from "Christian" as one could possibly be.
